1 The Virtues of the Surahs that begin with Ha Mim

اخْسَئُواْ‏ فِيهَا وَلاَ‏ تُكَل ِّمُونِ‏Remain you in it with ignominy! And speakyou not to Me! (23:108),so they will ask the keepers of Hell, who are likejailers watching over the people of Hell, to pray toAllah to lessen the Fire for them if only for oneday. But the keepers of Hell will refuse, saying tothem,قَالُوا أَوَلَمْ‏ تَكُ‏ تَأْتِيكُمْ‏ رُسُلُكُم بِالْبَي ِّنَاتِ‏ ...Did there not come to you, your Messengers with (clear)evidences?meaning, was not proof established in the worldon the lips of the MessengersThey will say: "Yes.''They will reply: "Then call (as you like)!...''قَالُوا بَلَى ...قَالُوا فَادْعُواmeans, you are on your own. We will not pray foryou or listen to you; we do not want you to besaved and we have nothing to do with you.Moreover, we tell you that it is all the samewhether you offer supplication or not, becauseAllah will not respond and He will not lighten thetorment for you.'They will say:﴾ ٥٠﴿...وَمَا دُعَاء الْكَافِرِینَ‏ إِل َّا فِي ضَلَالٍ‏And the invocation of the disbelievers is nothing but invain!meaning, it will not be accepted or responded to..........64
