Project 88, located in Colaba, the art district of
Mumbai, opened in April 2006 with new works of
Bharti Kher in an exhibition titled ‘Do not meddle in
the affairs of dragons because you are crunchy and
taste good with ketchup.’ Housed in a century-old
metal printing press, the industrial aesthetics and
the cavernous 4000 square feet interiors perfectly
lend itself to showcase the new emerging art of India.
The gallery programme focuses on contemporary art
from within India, as well as the diaspora, and also
has shown artists from other Asian countries such as
Japan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
