Freshfield, Admiral The Honourable Sir Stanley Colville, Colonel Needhamapologized for being prevented by the fog.Gipsy’s Vans Without Owners’ NamesThe Chairman reported that the Ranger complained that owing <strong>to</strong> the failure of the Police <strong>to</strong> enforce the law as <strong>to</strong>the owner’s name being painted on or attached <strong>to</strong> gipsy vans he had great difficulty in getting summons againstthose who frequented the <strong>Forest</strong>.It was resolved <strong>to</strong> recommend that the Boards should instruct the Clerk <strong>to</strong> communicate with the Chief Constableon the subject.Cutting HollyThe Chairman reported that two Craydon men had been s<strong>to</strong>pped by the Police at West Hoathly Station on Friday21 st November and a large quantity of holly and other stuff seized. The Ranger and W.H. Police Constablesubsequently found the holly trees on the <strong>Forest</strong> which had been cut and fitted a number of the pieces seized <strong>to</strong>their stumps.The Case came before the Bench at East Grinstead on the 1 st inst. but neither of the men who had been summonedappeared. Warrants were issued, but the men had not yet been arrested.Miss Guggenheim New RoadIt was reported that the authorized road <strong>to</strong> Miss Guggenheim’s new house across the <strong>Forest</strong> from below HighHollies had been completed. The Ranger was instructed <strong>to</strong> order the **** <strong>to</strong> make good the surface of the <strong>Forest</strong>where it had been cut up by carts during the operations.Bridge Near Post Horn LaneThe Bridge over the stream at the <strong>Forest</strong> end of Post Horn Lane was reported <strong>to</strong> be in need of repair. An estimateby Messrs H. Waters for doing the work at a cost of £ 2: 10: 0 was submitted and the Committee recommend itsacceptance.Ladies Golf Club, Proposed Alterations To LinksA letter from the Secretary of the Ladies Golf Club was brought forward and considered and the Committeerecommended the Board <strong>to</strong> inform the Ladies’ Golf Club in reply:(1) That the Clerk be instructed <strong>to</strong> inform the Club that neither the Royal <strong>Ashdown</strong> <strong>Forest</strong> Club nor theLadies’ Club have power <strong>to</strong> alter their tees without the previous consent of the Board.(2) That the Board consent <strong>to</strong> the proposed abolition of the first tee and <strong>to</strong> the making of a new hole after thefourth.(3) That they further consent <strong>to</strong> the 6 th Green being moved about 40 yards <strong>to</strong> the left of its present position.Notice Board ReplacedIt was reported that the Notice Boards as <strong>to</strong> cutting hollies or otherwise defacing the <strong>Forest</strong> which had beendamaged had been replaced.Douglas W. FreshfieldIt is resolved that the acts proceedings and recommendations of the Committee as set out in the Report beapproved confirmed and acted upon.
