That the Committee be empowered <strong>to</strong> entertain the application of any Commoner made <strong>to</strong> the Clerk <strong>to</strong>cut and burn a specific area and <strong>to</strong> refuse such application or <strong>to</strong> grant it subject <strong>to</strong> such conditions as theyconsider desirable.3. That the consideration of measures for the fire season of 1926 and of propaganda be dealt with at themeeting of the Board held next before the next Annual Commoners Meeting.On the motion of the Chairman of the Committee seconded by Colonel Needham it is unanimously resolved thatthe report and recommendations be approved and acted on.Bridge near Rist WoodsA letter is read from the R.A.F. Golf Club stating that owing <strong>to</strong> the disrepair of the bridge at Rist Wood Pond andthe urgency of the matter they had been obliged <strong>to</strong> insert 12 inch glazed soc*t pipes surrounded with concreteacross the roadway <strong>to</strong> carry the overflow of the pond at a cost of £ 13:10:0 and asking the Board <strong>to</strong> contribute halfthese amount.Protection and Improvement FundOn the motion of Mr. Martin it is resolved that the Board do contribute £ 5 out of the Protection andImprovement Fund.Road at Shalesbrook repairedThe Club also stated that they have carried out certain necessary repairs <strong>to</strong> the road at Shalesbrook.Footbridge near Water Farm – Protection and Improvement FundThe R.A.F. Golf Club drew attention <strong>to</strong> the bad state of the uprights and handrail of the footbridge erected by theBoard near Rist Wood. It is resolved that it be referred <strong>to</strong> the <strong>Forest</strong> Row Committee <strong>to</strong> inspect and do what theyconsider necessary any expenditure <strong>to</strong> come out of the Protection and Improvement Fund.Bridge near Post Horn Lane – Protection and Improvement FundMr. Martin reports that the bridge near Post Horn Lane has been repaired at a cost of £ 2:10:0. It is resolved thatthe amount be paid out of the Protection and Improvement Fund.Mr. Nelson Kenward License for two roadsMr. Nelson Kenward of Waldron attends before the Board and states that he has purchased from the MaresfieldEstate the land on the South West Side of the main road from Nutley <strong>to</strong> Uckfield opposite Dodds Bank beinginclosure no. 914 and part of 35 on the Ordnance Map 1910 which he is dividing in<strong>to</strong> four building plots, that astrip of <strong>Forest</strong> Land about 30 feet in depth lay between his frontage and the main road that he already has access <strong>to</strong>the Northernmost and Southernmost plots but desires permission <strong>to</strong> make and maintain carriage roads of 10 feet inwidth over the <strong>Forest</strong> Land from the main road <strong>to</strong> each of the two centre plots and submits a plan Mr. Follett onbehalf of the Lord assenting. It is resolved that a revocable License be granted <strong>to</strong> Mr. Nelson Kenward <strong>to</strong> make andmaintain the two roads subject <strong>to</strong> the usual conditions. Mr. Kenward paying an acknowledgement of 10/- perannum in respect of each road half <strong>to</strong> the Lord and half <strong>to</strong> the Board and the proper charges of the Clerk in relation<strong>to</strong> the preparation of the License. Also, Mr. Follett assenting on behalf of the Lord, it is resolved that Mr. Kenwardbe authorised <strong>to</strong> metal so much of the existing road on the South East Side of the Southernmost plot as crosses the<strong>Forest</strong> Land.Scale of acknowledgementsIt is resolved that at the next meeting the Clerk produce the list of acknowledgements now paid with somesuggestion as <strong>to</strong> the scale of acknowledgements <strong>to</strong> be charged in the case of future Licenses.Military damage Fairwarp Recreation GroundComplaint having been made that mounted Military from Maresfield Camp had caused damage <strong>to</strong> the FairwarpRecreation Ground by riding over it the Clerk reports that he wrote <strong>to</strong> the Officer Commanding drawing hisattention <strong>to</strong> Bye Law 19 and requesting him <strong>to</strong> caution the Officers and men under his command not <strong>to</strong> ride overthe <strong>Forest</strong>. It is resolved that as the area of this Recreation Ground is not indicated by any mark. the MaresfieldCommittee be requested <strong>to</strong> consider and report whether it is desirable <strong>to</strong> mark the area by boundary posts orotherwise.
