The Clerk explains that this Meeting was postponed by the Chairman in consequence of their being no businessrequiring attention.Letters are read from Mr. Maryon – Wilson, Sir Stanley Colville and Mr. Eckstein explaining their absence.The Clerk reports that Mr. Follett has gone through a serious operation in London and has now been broughthome <strong>to</strong> Crowborough and that Mrs. Follett reports that he is making satisfac<strong>to</strong>ry progress.It is resolved that the Board do convey <strong>to</strong> her their best wishes for his complete recovery.<strong>Minute</strong>sThe <strong>Minute</strong>s of the last Meeting are read and confirmed.Fire CommitteeThe Fire Committee report that they engaged two men Peter Tullett and William Stevens <strong>to</strong> assist the Rangers inextinguishing and detecting fires for six weeks ending 17 th May last each at 45/- per week and the Clerk has paidtheirsalaries amounting <strong>to</strong>gether <strong>to</strong> £ 27: 0: 0workman’s insurance 2: 627: 2: 6Paid <strong>to</strong> men who gave greatAssistance in extinguishing fires: 13: 0£ 27: 15: 6Protection and Improvement FundRanger Brown states that Tullett was of great assistance in extinguishing fires but was unable <strong>to</strong> detect anyincendiary. It is resolved that the acts and proceedings of the Committee as reported be approved and that theamount expanded be repaid <strong>to</strong> the Clerk out of the Protection and Improvement Fund.Fire PrecautionsIt is resolved that the question of what precautions shall be taken next Spring <strong>to</strong> cope with <strong>Forest</strong> fires be takenin<strong>to</strong> consideration at the Meeting of the Board held before the next Annual Commoners Meeting.AcknowledgementsThe Clerk produces a list of the Acknowledgements now payable for licenses, and explains that it is practicallyimpossible <strong>to</strong> frame a scale for future licenses as the circumstances of each case vary enormously.Vincent’s EncampmentThe Clerk reports that he has received several complaints that Mrs. Vincent’s encampment has not been removedfrom the <strong>Forest</strong> and that it is a great annoyance <strong>to</strong> the neighbours.Ranger Kirby reports that at his request the Sanitary Inspec<strong>to</strong>r is keeping the encampment under observation andhas caused the ground <strong>to</strong> be purified. Ranger Kirby states that he has reportedly summoned her before theUckfield Bench who have convicted and fined her small amounts which have been paid, but that she still remains.It is resolved that the Ranger impress on the Uckfield Bench <strong>to</strong>morrow the serious position and press for asubstantial fine which will induce the woman <strong>to</strong> remove and that should any further summons become necessarythe Clerk or his partner do attend the Court <strong>to</strong> conduct the case and put the position fully before the Justices.The <strong>Forest</strong> Row Committee present the following Report which is read and it is resolved that it be entered on the<strong>Minute</strong>s. It is as follows:The Committee met at Wych Cross Place on April 28 th 1925. Present. The Chairman, Admirable The HonourableSir S. Colville, Colonel Needham, Mr. Martin.Scouts CampThe Chairman reported he had granted leave <strong>to</strong> the Hartfield Boy Scouts <strong>to</strong> camp in the disused s<strong>to</strong>nepit near HighHollies on weekends on the usual conditions until further notice.
