10 Fieldbus technologywww.leoni-industrial-projects.comTransmission systemsFOUNDATION FieldbusIndustrial EthernetLike the PROFIBUS PA, the FOUNDATION Fieldbus is standardised via IEC 61158-2 andworks with the same transmission media(see page 9).The difference to PROFIBUS PA is that the FOUNDATION Fieldbusdoes not require Fieldbus masters and the field devices cancorrespond with each other.As a result of the increased demands made on transmissionspeeds and data rates, the Ethernet Protocol is also found besidesbus technology in the world of automation, including fielddevice controls.New technologies (such as switching etc.) also make Ethernetsuitable for real-time applications, allowing it to be used in thefield of automation parallel to the Fieldbus.With the FOUNDATION Fieldbus, the “host device” only monitorsthe procedures. Within process automation, the FF formsa so-called LAN (Local Area Network) and the FF devices areconnected to H1 links. Several H1 links are connected to thehigh-performance network HSE High-Speed-Ethernet via linkingdevices.
