Our thanks also goto Mr. David Bastian the Managing Director and Mr. RayStewart, the General Manager of Capital Permanent, fortheir personal interest in the Club.TWILIGHTCOMPETETIONFor the first time in its history WCCC was invited totake part in the twilight competetion organised by EastCanberra C.C. Limited over cricket is new to the youngclub. In the first round Weston Creek was drawn to playQueanbeyan C.C. and WCCC won the game in an exciting lastover. This gave the Club a place in the final four, andbeat Woden C.C. in the first semi-final.Woden had .5. ballsand 3 wickets to make 1 run for victory.Yet when the lastwicket fell off the last ball of the innings the scoreswere equal.As WCCC. had lost fewer wickets, it qualified forthe final. In a high scoring final Weston Creek lost toWestern District C.C. who made 190. WCCC were 9/144.CANTEENComplete score cards appear on pages 67, 68, 69 and 70.The usual Saturday night meeting place - The bar andCanteen - turned out to be very popular once again. Althoughthe numbers staying behind after the games showed amarginal decline, the profits from bar sales showed aconsiderable upturn. Laurie and Lyn O'Mara who managed thecanteen with the support of a few others deserve congratulations.Afternoon teas at the matches at Stirling Oval were toa high standard. Thanks to efforts of . the same few who"remembered".Finally my thanks go to all those who served in thevarious committees, for a job well done.
