1021' A.C.T.C.A. THIRD GRADE, CAPTAIN'S REPORTThe Thirds had an up and down season, winning six matrches and losing eight (one outright). Despite the lack ofsuccess in winning matches there were some fine individualperformances with the hat by Ron Smith (138 not out )Laurie O'Mara (91), David Body (86 not out), Roger Lonie,(66 not out) and with the ball by Tim Overland (9 for 23)Chris Burgess, Steve James and David Body.Overall fielding was not a good aspect of the team'sgame as much more practice will need to be devoted tothis facet of the game. At times the batting lacked consistencyand on many occasions, suffered from middle ordercollapses. At times also the bowling lacked thedesired penetration. However, with the balanced mixtureof experience and youth available in the third grade, the1980-81 season is one that I am looking forward to withgreat, anticipation.
