FITNET FFS – MK7– Section 13Assessment of Significance of the Results: Ductile tearing analyses were performed for the SSTP10 testspecimen using the general Option 1 FAD. Fracture toughness values, K mat , were obtained byconverting from J by the conventional plane strain relationship. Table 13.11 andTable 13.12 contain summaries of the test details, analysis details and the resulting values of L r , K r . Theseare plotted on the R6 Option 1 FAD in Figure 13.32 and are based on mean material properties as given inTable 13.11. It can be seen from Figure 13.32 that, when based on the parent tensile properties, all the datapoints lie above the failure assessment curve, showing the curve to be conservative. When based on theweld material properties, although the initiation point still lies above the curve, the other two points lie insidethe curve.
