ApsellAs director of the WGBH Science Unit and seniorexecutive producer of <strong>PBS</strong> science series, NOVA andNOVA scienceNOW, Paula has overseen the productionof hundreds of acclaimed science documentaries. Underher leadership, NOVA continues to be the most watchedprimetime science series on American television and haswon every major broadcasting award, including the Emmy,the Peabody, and the Dupont-Columbia Gold Baton. Paulahas been recognized with numerous individual awards,including the New York Hall of Science’s DistinguishedService Award for Public Understanding of Science and theCarl Sagan Award given by the Council of Scientific SocietyPresidents.Craig BartlettCraig is creator and executive producer of the preschoolseries DINOSAUR TRAIN. Previously, he created the popularHEY ARNOLD!, which ran for seven years and was seenin over 80 countries. Other credits include UNSTABLEFABLES: THREE LITTLE PIGS, RUGRATS, and PEE WEE’SPLAYHOUSE.Marsha BemkoCurrently an executive producer, Marsha’s television careerspans 30 years. In addition to helming eight-time EmmyAward-nominated ANTIQUES ROADSHOW, Marsha wasexecutive producer of the companion series, ANTIQUESROADSHOW FYI. Prior to joining ROADSHOW as seniorproducer in 1999, she worked on a variety of WGBHproducedpublic affairs <strong>program</strong>s for <strong>PBS</strong>. She was WGBH’scoordinating producer for national <strong>program</strong>ming andthe series producer for CULTURE SHOCK, coordinatingproducer for DISCOVERING WOMEN, and worked in a varietyof production capacities for FRONTLINE.Jeffrey BrownJeffrey is a senior correspondent for <strong>PBS</strong>’s NEWSHOUR. Ina career spanning more than 20 years at the NEWSHOUR,he has served in a variety of roles, both on and off camera.He has conducted studio discussions and reported from thefield on a wide array of domestic and international storiesand now regularly co-anchors the nightly news <strong>program</strong>.His work as correspondent and producer has garnered anEmmy, five Cine Golden Eagle Awards, and other honors.Patrick ButlerPatrick is president and chief executive officer ofthe Association of Public Television Stations. He isalso president of the Public Media Association, underwhich public television and radio stations have joinedforces to ensure continued federal funding of publicbroadcasting. Patrick joined APTS in January after 20years at The Washington Post Company, where he wassenior vice president with responsibilities for publicpolicy, new business development, television production,the <strong>conference</strong> business, community service, and specialcorporate projects.Geena DavisGeena is an Academy Award-winning actress and women’srights advocate. She has starred in such films as TOOTSIE,THELMA AND LOUISE, A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN,BEETLEJUICE, among many others. She is the founder ofthe nonprofit The Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Mediaand its <strong>program</strong>ming arm See Jane, which engages film andtelevision creators to dramatically increase the percentagesof female characters — and reduce gender stereotyping — inmedia made for children 11 and under.19
