This month they arecelebrating their 20th birthday.TTS was founded when the RoadTransport Industry Training Boardclosed it’s doors and at this pointthe new company was formed.“Our site has always beenassociated with training, “says Michael Kerr, BusinessDevelopment Director of TTS. “We have a lot of customers whostill talk about when they passedtheir lorry tests back in the early90’s and still continue to supportus. Some of the drivers that wetrained in the early days of TTSare now returning for DriverCPC 10 and 15 years later”With a 20 year history therewas no better way for TTS tocommemorate this milestone thanto upgrade their training facilities.A new building developmentstarted in 2010 and constructionwas completed in 2011. Thefacility is now fully functionaland to date TTS has seen almost1000 drivers, technicians andtransport managers receivetraining in the new centre.“Looking around,I can honestly saythat no other privatetraining organisationin Northern Irelandcan offer the rangeof training facilitieslocated in onecentral site that wehave provided.”Michael adds. “Our building hastwo separate workshops, onefor motor vehicle techniciansand another for bodyshoptechnicians, It also includes newclassroom facilities, an ICT suiteand a forklift training area.”The training centre is ideallylocated as it has primary roadlinks to both the M1 and M2,and even the most remoteareas of Northern Ireland canbe reached within 90 minutes.Belfast International Airportis 10 minutes away making itan ideal commute for visitinginstructors and trainees.“The core training that weoffer for the Transport Industryis centred around drivers andmanagers. “ says Michael.“Driver CPC, ADR and the newCPC qualification for transportmanagers are all available here.We offer commercial drivertraining for LGV and Bus driversand can offer tailored drivingassessments for companies. ”“In conjunction with our transportcourses we provide a range oftraining relevant to the MotorTrade. Apprenticeships for motorvehicle technicians and bodyshoptechnicians are offered at TTSand our workshops are availablefor hire to outside manufacturersand technical trainers. We arestarting to see a definite crossoverbetween the two sides of ourbusiness. Take for example DriverCPC, parts suppliers and recoverycompanies employing driversin light and heavy commercialvehicles are in scope of Driver CPClegislation and the new OperatingLicencing requirements.”In addition to a new building,TTS employed two new membersof staff, designed a new logo,launched a Facebook presence,and introduced 3 new transportcourses.
