classifiedsDAF announces Euro 6engines with common railDAF Trucks announces a new engine generation,developed for the new Euro 6 emissionslegislation, which comes into force in theEuropean Union on 1 January 2014.The 12.9 litre Euro 6 PACCARMX-13 engine uses state of theart common rail technology, aturbo with variable geometry andadvanced controls for maximumefficiency. In order to complywith the strict Euro 6 emissionsrequirements, it features exhaustgas recirculation, together with SCRtechnology and an active soot filter.“The PACCAR MX-13 engine isultra clean”, says Ron Borsboom,member of the DAF TrucksN.V. Board of Managementand responsible for ProductDevelopment. “In addition, we’vegone to great lengths to obtainindustry leading fuel efficiency,reliability and sustainability.”Compared with the current Euro5 standard, Euro 6 requires thatnitrogen oxide (NOx) emissionsmust be reduced by a further77%, while soot particle emissionsmust be cut by 66%. In concreteterms, this means that nitrogenoxide emissions have to be reducedfrom 2.0 to 0.46 grams/kWh, andsoot particle emissions from 0.03to as little as 0.01 grams/kWh.These are however not the onlyrequirements: Euro 6 engines mustmeet these stringent requirementsfor a minimum of seven yearsor 700,000 km, in all operatingconditions.
