Chapter 4 discusses the dynamics of the vehicle and a method to model the dynamicsbehavior of vehicles is given.Chapter 5 presents the principles of modeling of batteries as an important part in electricand hybrid vehicles drive train. Some models are introduced and compared with eachother. At the end of a nonlinear model which can be used for Lithium-ion, Lead-acid andNickel-metal-hydride battery is given.Chapter 6 includes some methods for electric machines and engine modeling. At the end,the energy management and control system is discussed.Chapter 7 focuses on the modeling blocks of different components in the drive train ofhybrid vehicles and shows how to create the models in Matlab/Simulink.In Chapter 8 a typical drive train of a series hybrid bus is made and the performance ofthe simulation model is analyzed.Finally in chapter 9 the overall conclusions of thesis work are given and it outlines somefuture work.2
2 Background2.1 Hybrid Electric VehiclesThe increase of depletion of fossil fuels for multiple purposes like generation of otherforms of energy (electricity, heating and transportation) is growing.
