Report by URBED with AGDPublic Transport ServicesBusesRail ServicesTram ServicesBus routes passing through the Patricroft Bridgearea can be categorised into two types. Those thatprovide services between large towns within theGreater Manchester conurbation, such as Warrington,Manchester, Altrincham, Eccles, Bolton and Stockport, and those that service local areas within the Salfordarea, such as Clifton, Monton, Peel Green, Brookhouse,Westwood Park, Cadishead, Worsley, Pendletonand Little Hulton. Many of these local services havea frequency of 4-6 buses/hr whereas the servicesbetween the larger towns have a frequency of between1-3 buses/hr. There are also dedicated early morningbus services to the Trafford Centre to allow residents toaccess job opportunities there. No coach services stopwithin the area. The plan adjacent shows the extent ofthe 10 minute bus isochrone for the Patricroft Bridgearea and shows that Eccles Town Centre and the edgeof Trafford Park are easily accessible by bus.Patricroft Railway Station is located within 800 metreswalking distance to the north of the Patricroft Bridgemasterplan area, and represents a great opportunityfor residents and business owners to access Liverpooland Manchester quickly and efficiently. However, thereare two main issues that make this an unattractiveoption. Train services to Manchester and Liverpool areonly hourly from Patricroft Station and the route to thestation from the Patricroft Bridge area lacks legibilityand is particularly unattractive for the mobility impaired.By improving this linkage it is possible to encouragefurther use of Patricroft Station.Metrolink services cover a wide area of GreaterManchester but services terminate in Eccles TownCentre and are not within normal walking distance of thePatricroft Bridge area. Services in Eccles can, however,be reached by bus or train from the area.TaxisTwo private taxi firms were found within the masterplanarea, one on Liverpool Road and one off Spencer Streetto the north of the area. Both provide a service forresidents and workers within the area without accessto their own car.Figure 19 shows the routes these services take throughthe Patricroft Bridge area and how they connect withother public transport services in Salford, such as theMetrolink tram system and train services. Bus serviceswithin the Patricroft Bridge area primarily use LiverpoolRoad and Trafford Road in an east-west direction andGreen Lane and Barton Road south of the LiverpoolRoad junction in a north-south direction.Patricroft Railway Station entrance40
