DEMOCRATIC PARTICIPATION <strong>AND</strong> CIVIC CONSCIOUSNESSParticipation, in its broadest sense, means involvement in social processes.Participation is possible only in societies which have absorbed democratic values. Ademocratic, accountable, transparent and participatory social structure which respects humanrights and has absorbed universal values can be only established by generations with highcivic consciousness. In this context, the participation of young population in all areas in thesocial life is essential.In order to permanently establish a pluralist and libertarian democracy in Turkey,young generations need to adopt democratic values as a lifestyle. Young people’s becomingstakeholders of politics is indispensable for an advanced democracy. In order to have aparticipatory youth with high civic consciousness, it is necessary to firstly make sure youngpeople have a say in the social processes by identifying obstacles in the way of theirparticipation.POLICIES1.
