In order to ensurepersonal, social, cultural and educational development of young people, user-friendlyinformation channels should be established. The fact that sample studies carried out in thefield by youth workers, non-governmental organizations and public institutions are known byother people or institutions, is important for youth studies being more qualified.It is inevitable to develop policies to support and supervise youth activities carried outacross the country and to inform youth workers on these subjects.POLICIES1. Informing young people about the activities in their own field in an efficientand adequate way.Targets• To establish a national database in the electronic environment in order toannounce the activities carried out by public, private sector and non-governmentalorganizations conducting activities in the field of youth and to collect such activities in asource.• To set up necessary communication channels in order to inform young peopleabout youth activities.42

VolunteeringVolunteering is the individual’s using his/her physical power, time, knowledge, abilityand experience together or separately on his/her own accord for the purpose of solidarity andcooperation, without pursuing any personal benefits and without any materialistic expectationonly with the desire to be useful for the society. Even though the basis of volunteeringconfronts us in different forms due to the cultural differences between countries in thiscontext, it is an agreed fact on a common platform without any confusion of meaning byhighlighting the universal values of humanity in the globalized world order.The desire to live a fair and happy life lies in the nature of volunteering. Due to thisphilosophical background, the characteristic building block of volunteering is sustainability.43
