Delivering the 18 Weeks Referral to Treatment Standard Output Report

1. Ensuring high organisational profile of, and clear delivery expectations in relationto Dental Specialties, with integration into Boards’ existing delivery systems for allother specialties.2. A critical success factor in the delivery of 18 weeks RTT is clearly recognisingthat 18 weeks applies equally to all Dental Specialties as to any other specialty.3. Embedding learning from other specialties regarding delivery e.g. thefundamental principles of waiting list management.4. Proactively pursuing accurate and fit for purpose data capture and its use locallyas a key source of health intelligence.5. Setting out and then encouraging the uniform application of ‘clock starts’ and‘clock stops’ to facilitate the accurate measurement of 18 Weeks RTT for dentalspecialties.6. Ensuring accurate recording of treatments undertaken in an outpatient setting(including return outpatient appointments) so clocks are stopped once firstdefinitive treatment is commended.7. Developing common pathways for Orthodontics and Oral Surgery, and drivinguniform implementation to ensure these are embedded right across the healthcommunity on a sustainable basis.8.
