God’s Order for LifeGod Almighty—El ShaddaiI [Almighty God] will make nations of thee,God Almighty blesses, makes fruitful, andand kings shall come out of thee.causes our seed to multiply. The Almighty GodAnd I [El Shaddai, Almighty God] willconfirmed with Jacob the same great promise Heestablish my covenant between me and theehad given to Jacob’s grandfather Abraham.and thy seed after thee [from Isaac toChrist] in their generations for an ever- Genesis 35:10:lasting covenant, to be a God [Elohim] untoAnd God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob:thee, and to thy seed after thee.thy name shall not be called any moreAnd I [El Shaddai, Almighty God] will giveJacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and heunto thee, and to thy seed after thee, thecalled his name Israel.land wherein thou art a stranger, all the landof Canaan, for an everlasting possession;God changed Jacob’s name. “Jacob” meansand I will be their [thy seed’s] God [Elohim].“supplanter,” one who takes the place ofanother. Instead of “Jacob,” God called himGod promised great things to Abraham by giv-“Israel,” meaning “prince of God.” God’sing him the land of Canaan and by assuringWord says, “Israel shall be thy name: and heAbraham that his offspring would follow Elohim.called his name Israel.”I want you to note that in chapter 28 of Verse 11:Genesis, Isaac, Abraham’s son, called God ElAnd God said unto him [Israel], I am GodShaddai. In the context of this twenty-eighthAlmighty [El Shaddai]: be fruitful and mulchapter,Isaac was speaking to his son Jacob.tiply; a nation and a company of nationsshall be of thee, and kings shall come out ofGenesis 28:3:thy loins.And God Almighty [El Shaddai] bless thee[Jacob], and make thee fruitful, and multi-God reiterated to Israel the promise He hadply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude ofmade to Abraham, again using the name El Shadpeople.dai. Associated with that title is fruitfulness, a10 11
