God’s Order for Quality BelieversAfter God forgives us of all trespasses, Colos-sians 2 further explains what He does with all theaccusations which were against us.from the dead and set him at His own righthand. When Jesus Christ got up, we got up with him;when he ascended, we ascended with him; whenhe sat down at the right hand of God, we satdown with him. It’s already fulfilled.Colossians 2:13:And you, being dead in your sins and theuncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickenedtogether with him, having forgiven youall trespasses.“. . . Comfort ye my people. . . . Speak ye com-fortably to Jerusalem. ...” Tell them that Godis going to double their sin on them. Now howcan you comfort someone if they are going toreceive double for their sins? That doesn’t makesense! Bishop K.C. Pillai finally explained to me“And you, being dead in your sins....” You areno longer dead in your sins, but dead tothem. You were dead in your sins before youwere born again. But when you were born againof God’s Spirit with Christ in you, you becamedead to them. Each of us is born into this naturallife dead in trespasses and sins, and the only wayGod can raise us up is by our confessing with ourmouths the Lord Jesus Christ and believing thatGod raised him from the dead, as Romans 10:9and 10 instructs us. Then we are given remissionof sin and God puts His spirit in us, which is Godin Christ in you, which is eternal life. We are nolonger dead in trespasses and sins, but rather webecome dead to trespasses and sins.Quickened Together with ChristVerse 14:Blotting out the handwriting of ordinancesthat was against us, which was contrary tous, and took it out of the way, nailing it tohis cross.I wondered about the meaning of this verse forfifteen or twenty years, realizing I did not understandit. I also had a problem with Isaiah 40.Verse 1 says, “Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.” The word “comfort” heremeans to soothe people, to give them peace andserenity. But the second verse of Isaiah 40 continues,“Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem[God’s people], and cry unto her, that her warfare[appointed time] is accomplished, that heriniquity [sin] is pardoned: for she hath receivedof the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.”278 279
