God’s Order in Old Testament Timestime for Joseph to demonstrate to the warden hisfine character and abilities and to gain thewarden’s confidence.Verse 23:The keeper of the prison looked not to anything that was under his [Joseph's] hand;because the Lord was with him, and thatwhich he did, the Lord made it to prosper.Who made Joseph’s deeds to prosper? TheLord. You see, you’ve got to believe that God isgoing to cause you to prosper, no matter whereyou are. In a prison, a person cannot do verymuch on his own. But even there, if a believerjust does his part with integrity, then the Lordcan make the circumstances profitable. A believercan prosper even in that environment.144Genesis 40:1-8:And it came to pass after these things, thatthe butler of the king of Egypt and his bakerhad offended their lord the king of Egypt.And Pharaoh was wroth [very angry] againsttwo of his officers, against the chief of thebutlers, and against the chief of the bakers.And he put them in ward [in prison] in thehouse of the captain of the guard, into theA Man in Whom the Spirit of God Isprison, the place where Joseph was bound[confined].And the captain of the guard chargedJoseph with them, and he served them: andthey continued a season in ward.And they dreamed a dream both of them[the butler and the baker], each man hisdream in one night, each man according tothe interpretation of his dream, the butlerand the baker of the king of Egypt, whichwere bound [confined] in the prison.And Joseph came in unto them in the morning,and looked upon them, and, behold,they were sad.And he asked Pharaoh’s officers that werewith him in the ward of his lord’s house,saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day?And they said unto him, We have dreamed adream, and there is no interpreter of it.[Nobody is able to tell us what our dreamsmean.] And Joseph said unto them, Do notinterpretations belong to God? tell me them,I pray you.What tremendous instruction for us.
