Phos. to oxygenise the blood.COUGHSCoughing is a symptom that occurs during the course of most diseasesof the respiratory organs. It should not, however, be neglected as itmay be the forerunner of more serious trouble, e.g bronchitis,pneumonia, etc. Expectoration varies in character according to the sitein which it is produced and the disease with which it is associated. Itsnature and consistency is a guide to the tissue salt required. Medicaladvice should be sought in chronic cases.<strong>Biochemic</strong> treatmentFerr. Phos. Hard, dry cough with soreness and feverishness.Kali Mur.Kali Sulph.Mag. Phos.Calc. Sulph.SilicaCalc. Phos.See also Combination J.Cough with white, albuminous phlegm; white or greycoatedtongue. Children’s cough.Cough with yellow expectoration. Worse in a heatedroom or in the evening.Painful, spasmodic cough with a tendency to persist.When the cough is loose and rattling with expectorationof thin, watery sputum. In alternation with Ferr. Phos.When the cough is accompanied by thick, yellow-green,profuse expectoration.Useful as an intercurrent remedy and during convalescence.CRAMPSCramp is a painful spasmodic contraction of muscles, generallyaffecting the limbs but sometimes the internal organs. It belongs to agroup of ailments known as local spasms and treatment with the antispasmodictissue salt Mag. Phos. is indicated. The cause of these painfulspasms is to be found in the nervous system. Cramp frequently comeson at night and during the attack the muscular fibres can be feltgathered up into a distinct knot. The attack is usually of short duration;massage and stretching the limb, by pressing against a firm object, arehelpful remedial measures.<strong>Biochemic</strong> treatmentMag. Phos. The principal remedy in cramps, spasms, neuralgias,twitchings, paroxysms, etc. Brings quicker relief whentaken with a little hot water.Calc. Phos.SilicaIn alternation with Mag. Phos. Sensation as if parts wereasleep, and with feeling of numbness and cold.A useful alternative remedy if Mag. Phos. does notrelieve.CROUPCroup is a term used to denote various ailments characterised byswelling which partially blocks the entrance to the larynx. It occurs inchildren and is accompanied b wheezing inspiration. It can sometimesbe serious on account of the risk of a complete blockage andsuffocation. The attack usually comes on suddenly at night, following achill. The breathing is hoarse and croaking and there may be astruggling for breath. A child subject to attacks of croup should beespecially guarded against cold and damp until the tendency isoutgrown. Medical advice should be sought.<strong>Biochemic</strong> treatmentFerr. Phos. Every fifteen minutes from the onset of the attack, inalternation with Kali Mur.Kali Mur. The principal remedy for the exudation and swelling.Mag. Phos.Calc.
