L . 2 . R e g i s t r a r ’ s O f f i c eThe Registrar’s Office is located in Room 104. The Registrar can assist on matters concerning student status,drop/add procedures, transcript requests, <strong>and</strong> other registration information. This <strong>of</strong>fice conducts degreeprogress audits. Changes <strong>of</strong> address <strong>and</strong> telephone number should be reported to the Registrar immediately.L . 3 . A d v i s e m e n t<strong>Student</strong>s meet with their Area Coordinators at registration to review completed courses, progress in currentcoursework, <strong>and</strong> discuss a program <strong>of</strong> study for the coming semester. The Area Coordinators can identifyscheduling problems, ensure proper credit load, <strong>and</strong> help with the selection <strong>of</strong> electives. If further assistance isneeded, contact the Registrar or the Dean. <strong>Student</strong>s are ultimately responsible for ensuring that theirregistration adheres to the rules <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> <strong>and</strong> to the curriculum.L . 4 . T r a n s f e r C r e d i t P o l i c yDCAD welcomes applications from qualified students who have started their undergraduate educationelsewhere. With a rolling-admission calendar, DCAD allows transfer students to apply year-round. Transferstudents are encouraged to apply as early as possible to ensure space availability in the limited, selectiveadmissions process. After submitting the Application for Admission <strong>and</strong> application fee, <strong>and</strong> sending <strong>of</strong>ficialhigh school <strong>and</strong> college transcripts, transfer applicants should schedule an appointment for a campus tour,interview <strong>and</strong> portfolio review. Transfer credits must be less than 8 years old.Once <strong>of</strong>ficial transcripts from all colleges <strong>and</strong> universities attended have been submitted, transfer credits areevaluated for the students’ proposed program <strong>of</strong> study at DCAD. Only grades <strong>of</strong> “C” <strong>and</strong> above from fullyaccreditedinstitutions are considered for credit toward equivalent courses at DCAD. A maximum <strong>of</strong> 29 creditscan be transferred toward the Associate <strong>of</strong> Fine <strong>Art</strong>s Degree. Transfer students must successfully complete atleast 39 to 41 credits through DCAD’s curriculum to earn an AFA degree from DCAD.Transfer credit evaluations prior to enrollment are conducted by the DCAD Admissions Office <strong>and</strong> the areacoordinator in their intended major <strong>and</strong> approved by the Dean or departmental assignee. <strong>Student</strong>s maypetition to change these evaluations only during their first two semesters <strong>of</strong> enrollment at DCAD.Transfer credits are administered based on course content similarity, including course equivalencies <strong>and</strong>expected learning outcomes, as addressed on the course syllabus. Course syllabi are required for all priorclasses being evaluated for transfer credit. <strong>Art</strong> work from studio classes being considered for transfer credit isrequired. Any transfer credits awarded are for learning only at an accredited college or university, not for lifeexperience.Transfer credits will be noted on the <strong>of</strong>ficial DCAD transcript <strong>and</strong> a copy <strong>of</strong> the Transfer Credit Evaluation willbe forwarded to the student, Academic Dean, Registrar, <strong>and</strong> be placed in the student’s file for review duringclass registration with the student’s Academic Advisor.31
