Completion <strong>of</strong> requirements <strong>of</strong> the AFA degree is normally accomplished through two years <strong>of</strong> full-time study.The curriculum for the majors <strong>of</strong> Animation, Fine <strong>Art</strong>s, Illustration, <strong>and</strong> Photography consists <strong>of</strong> 68 credits,composed <strong>of</strong> 43 studio art credits <strong>and</strong> 25 academic credits. The Graphic Design major consists <strong>of</strong> a total <strong>of</strong> 69credits, composed <strong>of</strong> 45 studio art credits <strong>and</strong> 24 academic credits. The Interior Design major consists <strong>of</strong> a total<strong>of</strong> 70 credits, composed <strong>of</strong> 46 studio art credits <strong>and</strong> 24 academic credits. All areas <strong>of</strong> concentration require acore group <strong>of</strong> foundation <strong>and</strong> academic courses during the first year. Starting with the second year, studentstake a mixture <strong>of</strong> courses specific to their area <strong>of</strong> concentration as well as academic courses.Qualified applicants may begin the degree program in the spring semester, followed by an intensive summerprogram.B . 4 . C r e a t i v e P a r t n e r s h i p s w i t h P r a t t a n d C o r c o r a n B F A p r o g r a m sThose students who expressly elect to transfer into the appropriate baccalaureate programs at either Pratt orthe Corcoran will also be subject to portfolio reviews prior to transferring. <strong>Student</strong>s who successfully completethe DCAD curriculum <strong>and</strong> portfolio review can transfer directly from DCAD into the third-year curriculum ateither Pratt or the Corcoran, as long as they are in academic st<strong>and</strong>ing as prescribed by Pratt or the Corcoran. Itshould be noted that such third-year transfers are possible for both schools in all major areas exceptIllustration <strong>and</strong> Animation, which are currently available for transfer to Pratt only.B . 5 C o n t i n u i n g E d u c a t i o nIn addition to the AFA Degree Program, DCAD <strong>of</strong>fers an extensive schedule <strong>of</strong> Continuing Education (CE)courses. Open to the general public, the CE Program <strong>of</strong>fers courses, workshops, <strong>and</strong> special events in both theapplied <strong>and</strong> fine arts, including certificate programs in <strong>Art</strong> <strong>and</strong> Design, Digital Design, Graphic Design, InteriorDesign, Photography <strong>and</strong> Web Design. Courses are primarily scheduled in the evening <strong>and</strong> on weekends, <strong>and</strong>are designed to meet the vocational <strong>and</strong> avocational goals <strong>of</strong> the greater Wilmington community.C. ADMINISTRATIONC 1 . P r e s i d e n tThe President is the chief executive <strong>of</strong>ficer <strong>and</strong> chief academic <strong>of</strong>ficer <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Delaware</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Art</strong> <strong>and</strong>Design <strong>and</strong> is the sole person responsible directly to the Board <strong>of</strong> Directors for implementation <strong>of</strong> the policies<strong>and</strong> directions <strong>of</strong> the boards <strong>and</strong> their committees. All <strong>of</strong>ficers, faculty, staff, <strong>and</strong> students <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> areultimately responsible to the President, <strong>and</strong> he or she is their <strong>of</strong>ficial means <strong>of</strong> communication with theboards. It is the President’s ultimate responsibility to direct the total program, including that <strong>of</strong> businessmanagement, <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong>. He or she is responsible for employing all members <strong>of</strong> the faculty <strong>and</strong> staff.C . 2 D e a nThe Dean oversees all elements <strong>of</strong> educational programs in support <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong>’s mission as well asproviding oversight <strong>of</strong> the assessment <strong>of</strong> student learning outcomes.
