CLASS SIZEClass size varies during the academic year; however, class size shall not exceed 100 students. A student-to-instructor ratiois maintained that is appropriate to the educational requirements of a particular classroom/laboratory setting. In order tomaintain an appropriate ratio, multiple instructors may be assigned to each classroom/laboratory to allow for additionalinstructor support.ATTENDANCE/TARDY POLICYAttendance is vital to academic achievement and the acquisition of good work habits. Graduates are screened byprospective employers, not only for academic achievement, but also for their attendance record. Attendance is recorded on eachstudent’s file and becomes part of the academic transcript. In regard to the Applied Service Management courses, studentabsences and tardies will be tracked for the entire six week period (250 clock hours) in applying the attendance/tardy policy. Each day is divided into eight sessions for attendance and tardy purposes. Students missing 30 minutes or more of asession will be counted as one hour absent. Students arriving late (less than 30 minutes) for a session will be counted tardy forthat session. A student missing more than twenty-five (25) hours of a course for any reason may be suspended. A studentwith ten (10) tardy occurrences in any one course may be suspended.ReadmissionStudents suspended for attendance/tardy violations may apply for readmission in accordance with the school’s readmissionpolicy.CANCELLATION OF CLASSES/COURSESInclement WeatherShould the school be closed due to inclement weather, the announcement will be broadcast on the following local radiostations: KLDI AM 1210, KOWB AM 1290, KCGY FM 95, and KMIX FM 96.7.LEAVES OF ABSENCEOccasionally situations arise, such as family tragedies or medical emergencies that make it necessary for students to brieflyinterrupt their education. Recognizing this, WyoTech permits students to request Leaves of Absence under the followingconditions:1. The student must request the leave in writing, in advance whenever possible, and the request must be signed, dated, and include a reason for the request.2. The leave must not exceed one hundred and eighty (180) calendar days during any 12-month period, excludingscheduled school breaks.3. The leave must be approved by the Director of Education.Failure to return from a Leave of Absence will result in official withdrawal.EFFECT OF LEAVES OF ABSENCE ON FINANCIAL AID ELIGIBILITYStudents who have received federal student loans must be made aware that failure to return from an approved leave ofabsence, depending on the length of the LOA may have an adverse effect on the students’ repayment schedules. Federal loanprograms provide students with a “grace period” that delays the students’ obligation to begin repaying their loan for six months(180 days) from the last date of attendance. If a student takes a lengthy LOA and fails to return to school after its conclusion, some or all of the grace period may be exhausted – forcing the borrower to begin making repayments immediately.READMISSION POLICYA student who has withdrawn or has been suspended may apply for readmission by contacting the Registrar’s Office tocomplete a request for readmission. Readmission is granted on a space-available basis. WyoTech reserves the right to refusereadmission based upon the attendance, academic, and social conduct history of the student during previous enrollment periods.ACADEMIC, ATTENDANCE, AND CONDUCT PENALTIES1.
