General Mental HealthTrack Director:Email:Location:Melanie Vielhauer, Ph.D.Psychology Service (116B)150 South Huntington AvenueBoston, MA 02130Telephone: (857) 364-4043melanie.vielhauer@va.gov<strong>VA</strong> Boston Healthcare SystemJamaica Plain CampusOverview: The Postdoctoral Fellow will deliver services through several clinicsaffiliated with the <strong>VA</strong>BHS General Mental Health (GMH) Program, including theGeneral Mental Health Clinic (GMHC), Mood and Anxiety Disorders Clinic (MADC),Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) and Primary Care Behavioral Health Clinic (PCBH) at theJamaica Plain campus. These clinics provide services to large numbers of veterans(e.g., GMH receives approximately 350 referrals per year; MADC receivesapproximately 300 referrals per year; PCBH serves a population of approximately6000 primary care patients at each campus, over 40% of whom are thought to bein need of mental health services [Hankins et al., 1999]). The Postdoctoral Fellowwill devote four days per week to the GMH/MDC/UCC and one day per week to thePCBH.Number of Fellows: One full-time Fellow is admitted each year.Length of Training: One year.Goals: Training will foster the development of assessment, treatment, andconsultation skills. The Fellowship position is structured to enhance communicationacross specialty mental health services, primary care, and urgent care. The Fellowwill develop skill as a liaison between these services to coordinate care, identify andmanage patients at high risk for suicide or other violence, and reduce stigmaassociated with mental health treatment. The Fellow will gain experience inadministrative oversight of a mental health clinic, supervision, programdevelopment, evaluation of outcomes, and clinical research.Fellowship Training Brochure | 2013 - 2014 Training Year18
