Daly, Ph.D.Center for Returning Veterans (116B)<strong>VA</strong> Boston Healthcare System150 South Huntington AvenueBoston, MA 02130Telephone: (857) 364-2472erin.daly@va.govLocation:<strong>VA</strong> Boston Healthcare SystemJamaica Plain CampusNumber of Fellows: One full-time Fellow is admitted each year.Length of Training:One year.Overview: This one-year clinical postdoctoral Fellowship is designed to trainpsychologists to provide specialized clinical services for returning veterans withboth alcohol and drug problems and co-occurring psychiatric disorders includingPTSD. The Fellow will have an excellent opportunity to be involved in thedevelopment and evaluation of treatment programs for returning veterans with dualdiagnoses. The Fellow will also have an opportunity to participate in programevaluation and/or clinical research in a topic area of interest (with the option offocusing on the evaluation and treatment of returning veterans with dualdiagnoses).Goals: The Fellow will learn how to assess the full range of alcohol and drugproblems in returning veterans including problem drinking, and alcohol and/or drugabuse and dependence. In addition, the Fellow will learn state-of-the-art methodsof assessment for PTSD as well as other co-occurring psychiatric disorders. TheFellow will learn how to effectively utilize evidence-based treatments for alcohol anddrug use problems such as motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral relapseprevention therapy, and behavioral self-control strategies with the returningveteran population. In addition, the Fellow will receive specialized training inevidence-based treatments for substance use disorders and PTSD (e.g., SeekingSafety), PTSD (e.g., Cognitive Processing Therapy), and problems with emotionalregulation (e.g., Dialectical Behavior Therapy). The Fellow will have an opportunityto learn how to work in the context of multiple outpatient settings.
