Available settings include several laboratories and multiprojectresearch centers: <strong>VA</strong> Center of Excellence - Translational Research Centerfor TBI and Stress Disorders (TRACTS), Geriatric Neuropsychology Laboratory,Neuropsychology of PTSD Laboratory, Memory Disorders Research Center (MDRC)and the <strong>VA</strong> Boston Healthcare System Neuroimaging Center. Ongoing researchprograms provide fellows with diverse research experiences (e.g., manuscriptpreparation, invited chapters, participation in weekly lab meetings/researchdiscussions, one-on-one research mentoring, journal peer reviews, archival dataanalysis, study design, and grant preparation).During Year 1, under faculty mentorship, fellows identify a research project anddevelop a tailored research plan outlining the specifics and expectations of thefellow’s study role. Fellows typically spend 4-8 hours per week devoted to researchactivities during the first year of Fellowship. During the second year, more time (upto 14 hours for those choosing a research focus) may be dedicated to researchactivities. Year 2 requires a tailored/approved research plan that may be acontinuation or expansion of the Year 1 project, or a new project entirely. Aresearch product (e.g., grant proposal, submitted manuscript, poster/paperpresentation) is to be completed by the conclusion of Year 2 by all fellowsregardless of whether they select a research focus.Fellowship Training Brochure | 2013 - 2014 Training Year40
