Come and enjoy acool dip as well as some delicious food from Bo-Bo’s Diner of Vernon Hills whois our concessionaire at the aquatic center. Beginning August 17 through LaborDay, the Family Aquatic Center will only be open on weekends from 12-5 pmdue to the high school and college age lifeguards and deck staff returning to theclassroom in mid-August.Our final Movie in the Park this summer will be on August 28 at dusk atthe north end of Deerpath Park, next to the Warrington playground. The featuredfilm is ”Planes, Fire & Rescue”.Celebrate the end of summer at our 5th Annual Little Bear Ribfest inCentury Park! On August 21 & 22, the park will be filled with blues musicentertainers, rib vendors and beverages! Refer to page 5 for more information andbe sure to visit the Ribfest website at www.littlebearribfest.com.Families can play together at our 8th Annual Worldwide Day of Play eventon September 19th. This event features fun, outdoor recreational games for everyage. No registration is necessary, just come out and play in Century Park North!Mark your calendars now for all the October special events. Trucks, Trunks, andTreats, a Halloween themed event for children, will take place on October 10thand our popular Fall Fest is October 30th. When all of your Halloween activitiesare over, head over to the Century Park sled hill on November 7th for the AnnualPumpkin Launch. Bring your pumpkins and “launch” them down the sled hill fora “smashing” good time!The Kids’ Castle playground in Deerpath Park, constructed by ourcommunity in 1997, will be undergoing a renovation. Currently, the District ismeeting with playground designers to create a new Kids’ Castle. Please see page4 for a proposed conceptual design. Vernon Hills’ resident, Amy Lamberti, is theDistrict’s community volunteer leader. Amy is reaching out to residents who areinterested in offering their time to demolish the old playground and rebuild thenew Kids’ Castle. Moreover, the District is offering commemorative bricks, inthree sizes, that can be inscribed with your personal message and placed at theentry of the new playground.
