GENERAL INFORMATIONAge QualificationThe District establishes appropriate age qualifications for each of itsprograms. Only the program supervisor is authorized to make exceptionsto these age ranges. Consideration will only be given once all age-appropriateparticipants have had an opportunity to register.Notary Public Services Notary public services are available at theLachen Community Center. Please remember that documents must besigned in the presence of the Notary Public.General InformationResident/Non-Resident (NR) Fees Vernon Hills residents significantlycontribute to the operating budget of the Park District by paying propertytaxes. Everyone who resides within the boundaries of the Park Districtare eligible to receive resident discounted rates. Once per year, eachVernon Hills household is required to show proof of residency in order toqualify for resident rates. Families living within Hawthorn School District#73 are also eligible to receive resident discounted rates for programs.The only exceptions are facility rentals and daily admission to the FamilyAquatic Center. In addition, District 73 residents must wait until thenon-resident registration dates to register for programs. Non-residentfees are the second fees shown in program descriptions. These rates arenot discounted and are necessary in order to ensure that non-residentparticipants contribute to the overall financing of the park system on anequitable basis with residents.Senior Citizen Discount Senior discounts are available for individualpasses and membership to our Fitness Center for residents aged 62& older. For all other programs and the Family Aquatic Center, a 20%discount will be applied.Payment Policy - Households with an unpaid balance will not beallowed to register for any Vernon Hills Park District programs, activities,memberships or rentals until the balance is paid in full. For assitancewith an unpaid balance contact the Office Manager at 847-996-6803.NSF Policy A $25 service charge will be assessed on all checks returneddue to non-sufficient funds (NSF).Photo & Video Policy On occasion, the District staff or contractorsmay take pictures or video footage of participants in our programs, or ofpeople in the District’s parks. These pictures may be used for the ParkDistrict’s website, brochures, pamphlets, videos, flyers or for media promotion.Residents are encouraged to submit photos for the Park Districtto use in its informational materials.Vandalism Each year, vandalism costs the Park District thousands ofdollars. Higher costs of maintenance, repair and clean up of park areascan be avoided only with your help. Should you see vandalism occurring,please call the Vernon Hills Police at (847) 362-4449.Discipline A positive approach is used regarding discipline. Staff periodicallyreviews rules with participants during programs. If inappropriateor unacceptable behavior occurs, prompt resolution will be sought andthe Behavior Code of Conduct will be used as a guideline. The Park Districtreserves the right to remove a participant whose actions endangerthe safety of himself.Park District Police Through a cooperative agreement with the Villageof Vernon Hills, all parks and park facilities are policed by the VernonHills Police Department. Police are radio dispatched and may be summonedby calling (847) 362-4449.Speakers Bureau Local groups are encouraged to invite our staff toyour meetings to speak about Park District happenings. A Food Allergy Action Plan willbe created by the District staff and parents and will identify operationalpractices for parents, teachers and children to follow.
