PASCAL HeraldTrip to FranceOn the 11 th of June, 2009 10 teachers escorted90 students on the annual Year 3 trip toParis. The holiday started with great enthusiasm, good spirit and excitement by both teachersand students. Students had 6 days carefullyplanned for them to visit many historicalsights and major monuments in Paris, some ofwhich were the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, theMontmartre, Notre-Dame, the Arc de Triomphand the Champs-Elysées. In the evenings, studentsenjoyed the river shuttle and the LatinQuarters where they walked around and experiencedsome French culture. They alsospent 2 whole days in Asterix Park and Eurodisney, where they enjoyed the thrill of adventurepark rides, bought many souvenirs andenjoyed the Disney parade. The journey andthe stay in Paris with our friends was amazing. We all had a good time away from home andour parents but most importantly the good timewe had with our teachers was a time we willnever forget. I honestly wish I could do thisagain.Sofocles Kyprianou 4DHousesThe House of Poseidon got its name from the God ofthe sea. As in all of the previous years our House is avery energetic one with all its members participating inmany different and exciting events. With each andevery contribution being important we always showour philanthropic spirit and this year we managed tosell tickets for the Radiomarathon and we raised theamount of €2128. This made us feel extremely proud, both of ourselves for managing to convince pupils toparticipate but also of our school which proved to bemade up of compassionate young people. This year’sTrack and Field Events day (sports day) was differentfrom previous years. We competed as Houses and weall showed our team spirit and we made a cheering‘kerkida’ to cheer on our team mates. Another enjoyableHouse activity was when we contributed as ateam with our co-House Captains in Apollo’s StyleVibe event. Also, we organised the House ChristmasTree Competition where our tree was voted as thewinner! Lastly, we are all really looking forward to organizingthe Hidden Talents’ Evening this year. TheHidden Talents’ Evening is Poseidon’s event wherewe show everyone that ‘hidden talents’ are just as importantas anything else and that pupils have a lot tooffer. Eleana Stylianou & Constantinos Iacovides 6BApollo is the God of the Arts and that is why ourHouse organized the ‘Style Vibe’ Performing Artscompetition on the 11 th December 2009. For us it was an experiencewe will never forget since we learned what it means toovercome your fears, be responsible, show commitmentand work as a team. However, Apollo Housealso participated in other things: Track and FieldEvents’ Day where we showed support for our teamand the Christmas tree competition where we tried todecorate our tree as best as possible to outshine theothers!
