2009/10 · Issue 1PalestineMy name is Joumana Hdaib. I’m 15 years old andI’m in 3B. I come from Palestine. Palestine is a smallcountry between the Mediterranean Sea and the JordanRiver and it has a population of about 6 millionpeople. However, most of the people are forced toleave the country due to the existing war. Palestine’scapital city is Jerusalem. Other well-known cities areGaza and Hebron. Palestine’s official language isArabic. In Palestine people are of different religions - somepeople are Jews others are either Muslims or Christians, which is why we can see many churches inPalestine. The most important thing about Palestineis that almost half of the country has been occupiedfor more than 50 years by Israel and thousands ofpeople, mostly children, were killed from Israel’s attacks. Most of those attacks happen in schools andplaces where people cannot fight back. For many years now, there have been many discussionsabout this issue but nothing has changed. Therefore, Palestine has a great similarity with Cyprus, since both have been occupied for many yearsnow and even though there have been efforts tosolve these issues there have not been any improvements.Jumana Hdaib – 3BINDIAThe Dome of the Rock on theTemple MountIndia is located in the south of Asia with a populationof approx. 1,166,079,217. At the start of each academic year the assistantsmeet and vote for the head assistant and his/her helper. The head assistant is not only responsiblefor his own assigned section in the library but he mustalso ensure that the rest of the library assistants arecarrying out their duties as they should. The assistantis responsible for sorting out problems in the libraryand helping the librarian keep things in order. In additionhe must go around all sections to make sure thateverything is fine.
