With entries now open for the 2016 CICM British Credit Awards, Alex Simmons asks
the 2015 Award winners what it has meant to them and how they think it has helped
their business.
RECOGNISING OUTSTANDING COMMITMENT TO QUALITY
IN September 2013 Avnet Technology
Solutions UK became the first distributor
to receive an award from the Institute of
Credit Management (ICM). Just 18 months
later, at the Chartered Institute of Credit
Management (CICM) British Credit Awards
2015, Clare Connor, credit controller, Avnet
Technology Solutions, UK, won ‘Credit
Controller of the Year’.
Both awards recognised outstanding
commitment to quality, continuous
improvement and best practice in all
things credit. Receiving such an award
from an organisation like the QCIM
provides a sound endorsement to Avnet’s
high standards and business practices
relating to credit. It also provides further
validation to Avnet’s customers that they
are working with the best team. Credit is
a key sales enabler in the IT channel and
it is important to Avnet that its business
partners have complete confidence in the
credit support they receive. By joining
the QICM club, Avnet considers itself
to be part of an elite team within credit
management.
In addition to placing high value on
the awards it receives, Avnet will always
recognise the great achievements of
its employees and ensured that Clare
received the appropriate recognition
internally for her CICM award. As a result
of this a positive cycle has built. The team
has been spurred on to achieve similar
great results which has positively impacted
customer engagement and which, in
turn, will undoubtedly impact Avnet’s
performance in a positive way.
