Contracts Round-Up<br />
Governor Replacement Contract for Capita Symonds<br />
Work commenced in December<br />
2009 on Scotia Gas Networks<br />
(SGN) Governor Replacement<br />
contract. With an approximate value<br />
of £0.5M, the contract with Capita<br />
Symonds covers nine individual<br />
projects.<br />
The principal objective of the<br />
contract is the renewal of gas<br />
governor stations up to and including<br />
7 bar. The scope includes:<br />
● Demolition of existing governor,<br />
including the removal of existing<br />
plant and equipment.<br />
● Demolition of existing governor<br />
building, which can include GRP,<br />
wood and concrete, and the<br />
removal and management of<br />
asbestos where present.<br />
● Decommissioning of existing services<br />
● Removal of existing concrete slab<br />
foundations, fences, gates etc.<br />
● Construction of new governor<br />
buildings, including foundations, and<br />
structures.<br />
● Installation of new governor below<br />
and above ground works<br />
● Installation of new pipe-work,<br />
telecoms, power, cathodic<br />
protection, and some mechanical<br />
and electrical works<br />
● This includes writing and undertaking<br />
Non Routine Operations / Routine<br />
Operations, procedures to commission<br />
and decommission the networks.<br />
We are acting as Contractor for<br />
these works, and we undertake the<br />
full project of replacement and<br />
provision of new commissioned<br />
asset. Works are progressing well<br />
and are due to be completed in<br />
December 2010.<br />
Other works within the Scottish<br />
Division include Glasgow East 132kv<br />
for Scottish Power/Iberdola. This<br />
contract commences in November<br />
2010 with completion due in<br />
October 2011. The scope of works<br />
include the installation of ducts to<br />
carry 132kv/33kv electric cables<br />
and has an approximate value of<br />
£3M.<br />
Mains Replacement Contract for<br />
Scotia Gas Networks<br />
With an approximate value of<br />
£1M, the contract with Scotia<br />
Gas Networks (SGN) covers<br />
sixteen individual projects in around<br />
the Glasgow Area. Work commenced<br />
last month on SGN Mains<br />
Replacement contract.<br />
The principal objective of the<br />
contract is the replacement of mains<br />
and services for domestic and<br />
Industrial and commercial customers.<br />
The scope includes:<br />
● Replacement of Low pressure<br />
networks up to and including 500mm<br />
● All planning activity including<br />
identification of best technique<br />
including live/dead insertion and<br />
open cut<br />
● Undertaking full Project Management<br />
on behalf of the client<br />
● Renewing service and meters<br />
for domestic and industrial /<br />
commercial customers and<br />
liaising directly with our<br />
clients customers<br />
● This includes undertaking<br />
Authorising Engineer and<br />
Competent Person<br />
responsibilities on behalf of<br />
the client<br />
The works are progressing well<br />
and the first package of work<br />
should be completed by March<br />
2010.<br />
