Mobile-i – Mobile Workforce Management
Largely based on the success of
Triple M and CMS, but also taking
learning and best practice from
our experience with client systems,
the company has now developed a
Mobile Workforce
Management
system- Mobile-i.
The rationale and
objectives
associated with
the conception
and
development
of Mobile-i
have not only
included an
integration of the
functionality of CMS with that of
Triple M, but also the addition of
enhanced features.
Mobile-i comprises two fundamental
elements. There is a ‘back office’
function that is used by schedulers,
planners, managers and supervisors,
and there is an ‘on site’ function that
is used principally by operatives, and
is delivered through (ruggedized)
PDAs or larger-screen tablet devices.
Benefits include:

time view of whereabouts

improved carbon footprint
● Full visibility of works status –
available to clients

through real-time recording

A major improvement in assurance
and compliance is brought through
work-flow management, which
ensures that all prescribed steps in
any process (e.g. permit to dig) are
completed before the process can
move on. With a scanner being
incorporated into the on-site
mobile equipment, we will also be
able to assure the accuracy of
certain asset recording: for
example meter details.
Mobile-i is currently being used on
the Anglian Water Metering and the
Optimise (OPEX) contracts.

Cooperative working and
sharing of environmental
and engineering best
practice
Kingwood Common is a great
example of cooperative working
and sharing of environmental
and engineering best practice with
Murphy and Clancy Docwra combining
their efforts to use Clancy Plant’s
Mobile Reprocessing Unit to process
excavated spoil from the highway to
create a recycled material suitable
for reinstatement. The unit mixes
excavated spoil with a product called
SMA to create a Hydraulically Bound
Material (HBM).
The use of this technology has
significant environmental engineering
and commercial benefits including:
● Reduction of waste sent to landfill
improving the Optimise and Thames
Water recycling performance.
● Reduced reliance on primary type 1
reducing the overall carbon
footprint of a project
● HBMs produce extremely good and
consistent reinstatement results
● An overall reduction in cost
It is anticipated that this will be the
first of many opportunities to share
best practices between the
partnering companies.
