Residence
daily open houses.
:::: “Dispelling the Mystery & Building Community” ::::
Three community presentations on the creative process
April 9: The Language: Visual Content & Meaning. An introduction of the
formal visual language as a separate and strong language with a structure and
vocabulary of its own and a demonstration of how that language is used in
creating a composition. A discussion of the ideas around this body of work.
What does it mean?
April 16: The Process: Techniques. A discussion and demonstration of the
beginning drawing, underpainting, mixing the palette, application of paint and
the struggles and joys of working in a large scale. Why does she do it?
April 20: The Critique: Community Response. Based on the language,
techniques and the content that she has presented and on the opportunity to
have seen the process unfold, Hazel will ask the audience to participate in a
discussion of the outcome. How do you talk about art?
Community Conversations: April 9 • April 16 • April 20 @ 7pm
