Advanced Video Production FVCG 10-12 10 units/year<br />

Prerequisite: Beginning Video Production.<br />

Students will develop advanced skills in camera techniques, audio production directing digital non-linear editing, script writing,<br />

lighting, set design and other skills required to create a high quality video production.<br />

Beginning Video Production 1 (ROP) TAMA 11-12 10 units/year<br />

Advanced Video Production 2 (ROP) TAME 11-12 10 units/year<br />

1 Class Period<br />

Gain an understanding and practical experience in the creation of video productions using EFP (electronics field production), and<br />

television studio techniques. Students will develop basic skills in camera techniques, audio production, directing, non-linear editing,<br />

script writing, lighting, set design and a variety of other skills required to create a finished video production. The course includes the<br />

history of video production through changes in equipment and production techniques. Students will work in a variety of production<br />

positions over the course of the year on group projects. Interested students may also create a video project to enter in festivals.<br />

Broadcast Production YZIG 10-12 10 units/year<br />

Broadcast Production provides practical experience in the production process of various forms of broadcasting. This class covers<br />

script writing, pre-production, and production experience with radio plays, teleplays, broadcast journalism, and short films. It includes<br />

skills training in editing, writing, producing, camera operation, field reporting, audio operations, studio directing, and computer<br />

graphics. Integrated throughout the course are career preparation standards, which include basic academic skills, problem solving,<br />

safety, technology and other employment skills.<br />

Symphonic Band FBFP 10-12 f 10 units/year<br />

Prerequisite: Previous instrumental experience and recommendation of last year’s director.<br />

This group will be the largest and most active musical group on campus. It will be an intermediate/advanced level group with all grade<br />

levels represented. Wind Ensemble members will also play in this group, providing role models and leadership. Members will perform<br />

as a Marching Band, Pep Band, and Symphonic Band. They will also participate in Chamber Ensemble groupings. A lab donation will<br />

cover the cost of transportation, sheet music, equipment maintenance and acquisition, and marching band uniform rental.<br />

Wind Ensemble FBJG 11-12 f 10 units/year<br />

(Irvington Only)<br />

Prerequisite: Audition or Invitation.<br />

This ensemble, consisting of 30-35 woodwind, brass, and percussion players, is designed for the most advanced and motivated student<br />

musicians on campus. Since these students will have advanced technical skills as a prerequisite for the class, the curricular focus will<br />

be on artistic and soloistic expression. In addition to full ensemble playing, a great deal of time will be spent in chamber ensembles.<br />

This is a 7 th period class. Students interested in taking Wind Ensemble should also enroll in Symphonic Band. A lab donation will<br />

cover the cost of sheet music and supplies.<br />

Jazz Ensemble 1 FJCP 9-12 f 5/10 units/year<br />

Prerequisite: Previous instrumental experience, audition; Concurrent enrollment in Band 1, 2, Advanced Band 1, 2, 3 or Orchestra 1,<br />

2, 3, 4.<br />

This class will explore a variety of jazz styles and time periods. Skills in tone production, intonation, technique, music reading and<br />

musical expression will be studied within the big band and combo repertoire. Improvisational techniques will be introduced.<br />

Attendance at evening concerts, festivals, community events and rehearsals will be required as scheduled. A donation will cover the<br />

cost of items such as uniforms, music, transportation, entrance fees, and supplies. Rehearsals times are determined by school site and<br />

variable unit credit may be given.<br />

Prerequisite: Jazz Ensemble 1, audition; Concurrent enrollment in Band 1, 2, Advanced Band 1, 2, 3 or Orchestra 1, 2, 3, 4.<br />
