The following health alternatives offer a choice for parents and students. Students must pass all course work in
health in order to earn health credits. Alternatives and waivers will be approved by the principal. Any appeal of
a principal’s decision will be referred to the Director of Secondary Education. Students must have a signed
positive parent permission to participate in the basic program and two alternatives.
ALTERNATIVE ONE
As per Ed. Code 51240, parents opting students
out of part of the Base Program or the entire health
class must officially notify the school in writing.
Students opting out will receive alternate units at
the school site or be placed in another course for
that semester. (See Alternative Two for other
choices.)
Principal approves and arranges for student’s
transcript to reflect waiver of the health course.
