Anatomy and Physiology QSIP 10-12 d 10 units/year<br />

Prerequisite: Biology & Chemistry (or taken concurrently).<br />

Anatomy and Physiology is an upper division college preparatory course for those with an interest in learning more fully about the<br />

human body or in exploring a medical career includes: the eleven systems of the body. Presentation modes include lectures, labs,<br />

dissection, computer applications, written assignments, and tests. There will be a lab donation requested per student.<br />

Advanced Anatomy QALP 11-12 d 10 units/year<br />

Prerequisite: Completion of the Anatomy 1 with strong teacher approval.<br />

Advanced anatomy covers an in-depth evaluation of each of the 11 systems of the human body along with video presentations,<br />

medical guest speakers on related subject matter, and disease research to the related system failures. A lab donation will be requested.<br />

Astronomy/Geology QGIP 10-12 d 10 units/year<br />

Prerequisite: Satisfactory completion of Physical Science, Biology and Chemistry or equivalent.<br />

This course is a study of earth structure and geology, theories of formation of the universe, solar system and planets. A lab donation<br />

will be requested per student.<br />

Oceanography Science QOLP 12 d 10 units/year<br />

Prerequisite: Completion of biological and physical science graduation requirement.<br />

The physical, chemical and biological characteristics of marine and freshwater environments will be studied. A survey of typical<br />

plants and animals living in these environments will be included. There will be a lab donation requested per student.<br />

Geography/Reference Skills ZFAG 9 5 units/semester<br />

Geography/Reference Skills will emphasize physical, cultural and political geography while at the same time improving the study<br />

skills of all students through the use of research based projects and computer technology. Hands-on computer experience encompasses<br />

in their projects will include word processing, spreadsheet construction, computer graphics, Internet searching skills, and PowerPoint.<br />

These skills will be taught in a computer lab with Internet capabilities. All projects are presented orally by students in class,<br />

strengthening presentation skills, and students will demonstrate proficiency in PowerPoint. Thinking critically as well as test-taking,<br />

note taking, and map work will be integral parts of the class. This course is strongly recommended for students planning AP studies in<br />

Social Science. This class meets computer literacy graduation requirement.<br />

World History SWFP 10 a 10 units/year<br />

The focus of this course is the chronological progression of events in world history. Students will develop a global view of the<br />

relationship between today’s cultures and those of the past, as well as an awareness of cultural similarities, differences, and<br />

achievements. Content will also include the geographical location and influence of classical civilizations, Europe, Asia, Africa, and<br />

the Americas.
