Alumnae are at <strong>the</strong> heart and soul<br />
of many <strong>Mount</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>Sales</strong> Aca<strong>de</strong>my<br />
traditions. Why is <strong>the</strong>ir involvement<br />
key to <strong>the</strong> continuation of MDSA’s<br />
legacy?<br />
Alumnae involvement helps current<br />
stu<strong>de</strong>nts realize that a <strong>Mount</strong> <strong>de</strong><br />
<strong>Sales</strong> education is more than just<br />
four years. The values learned<br />
at MDSA are carried out in <strong>the</strong><br />
workplace and in families everyday.<br />
What are some of <strong>the</strong> most vital<br />
ways <strong>Mount</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>Sales</strong> Aca<strong>de</strong>my<br />
Alumnae can be involved at <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
alma mater?<br />
In whatever way you can show<br />
support, whe<strong>the</strong>r being physically<br />
present or financially available.<br />
Nearly 50% of <strong>Mount</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>Sales</strong><br />
Aca<strong>de</strong>my’s living Alumnae are<br />
un<strong>de</strong>r <strong>the</strong> age of 30. What does<br />
this mean for <strong>the</strong> future of MDSA<br />
Alumnae involvement?<br />
Many young alumnae are<br />
beginning <strong>the</strong>ir careers or starting<br />
families, so it can be hard for<br />
involvement but <strong>the</strong>re is a vibrancy<br />
with recent alumnae. We need your<br />
energy and enthusiasm.<br />
What is your dream for <strong>the</strong> growth<br />
of <strong>Mount</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>Sales</strong> Aca<strong>de</strong>my’s<br />
Alumnae Association over <strong>the</strong> next<br />
160 years?<br />
A vibrant organization to get o<strong>the</strong>rs<br />
involved in <strong>the</strong> programs.<br />
What do you consi<strong>de</strong>r to be <strong>the</strong><br />
most special thing about calling<br />
yourself a MDSA Alumna?<br />
I am proud to carry on <strong>the</strong> <strong>Mount</strong><br />
<strong>de</strong> <strong>Sales</strong> traditions and spiritual<br />
values <strong>from</strong> St. Francis <strong>de</strong> <strong>Sales</strong> and<br />

Tax Benefits of Giving Gifts of Stock/<br />
Appreciated Securities If you own<br />
appreciated securities, that have been held<br />
for more than twelve months, and give<br />
<strong>the</strong>m as a gift to <strong>Mount</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>Sales</strong> Aca<strong>de</strong>my,<br />
you can benefit by:<br />
• Claiming a charitable income tax<br />
<strong>de</strong>duction for <strong>the</strong> full value of <strong>the</strong><br />
shares; and<br />
• Avoiding <strong>the</strong> capital gains tax that<br />
would have been due if <strong>the</strong> shares<br />
were sold.<br />
Please consult your tax attorney or tax<br />
preparer for <strong>the</strong> <strong>de</strong>ductibility of your gift.<br />
Circumstances will vary with income and<br />
o<strong>the</strong>r factors.<br />
Gifts of stock are sold upon receipt. You<br />
will be credited for <strong>the</strong> value of <strong>the</strong> stock<br />
on <strong>the</strong> date <strong>the</strong> gift is ma<strong>de</strong> and a receipt is<br />
generated that reflects that value.<br />
Your Participation ALWAYS Matters<br />
Each year since 2005, as graduation nears, <strong>the</strong><br />
Office of Alumnae Relations hosts <strong>the</strong> Senior<br />
class for a special luncheon in Alumnae Hall.<br />
This event serves as an official welcome into <strong>the</strong><br />
Alumnae Association and <strong>the</strong> seniors are invited<br />
to attend <strong>the</strong> numerous activities planned for<br />
our young Alumnae.<br />
After hearing about <strong>the</strong> Senior Luncheon event,<br />
<strong>the</strong> class lea<strong>de</strong>rs in 2008 asked if <strong>the</strong>y could<br />
use <strong>the</strong> opportunity to invite <strong>the</strong>ir classmates<br />
to pledge support to <strong>Mount</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>Sales</strong> for <strong>the</strong><br />
following four years. The Your Participation<br />
ALWAYS Matters campaign was born.<br />

They are <strong>the</strong> best ambassadors<br />
to speak of <strong>the</strong> school and are<br />

What are some of <strong>the</strong> most vital<br />

Alumnae can be involved at <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

Through mentoring stu<strong>de</strong>nts. There<br />
are a number of alumnae who serve<br />
as teachers. I also enjoy when<br />
Alumnae are present at things like<br />
school retreats.<br />

These young Alumnae are<br />
