4.7 Corners Sites
Principle: Buildings on corners and in other
prominent locations should have special
architectural treatment and emphasis. Each corner
site is an opportunity to maximize views and
sunlight exposure. To realize this advantage and
encourage architectural variety, each corner should
hold the street wall by building to the street face for
a minimum distance of 15 metres.
Guidelines
• Corner buildings should be given special
architectural treatment to make them stand out
from the building pattern along the rest of the
block.
• Encourage buildings on corner sites to locate
their primary entrance at the corner.
An example of a mixed-use building with a subtle yet
appropriate corner treatment.
