Sullivan ’11 Named
Merit Finalist
Sean Sullivan '11 has been named a
Finalist in the National Merit
Scholarship Program. About 1.5 million
juniors in 22,000 high schools entered the
2011 National Merit Scholarship Program
by taking the 2009 Preliminary
SAT/National Merit Scholarship
Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
Approximately 15,000 students, less than
one percent of u.S. high school seniors,
were named Finalists. Sullivan will be
considered for National Merit
Scholarships to be awarded later this year.
Matra ’13 Made It To
Shakespeare Finals
Julian Matra ’13, the winner of the St.
Sebastian’s School Shakespeare
Competition, was one of ten students to
advance to the Final Round of the English
Speaking union’s 2011 Boston
Shakespeare Competition held at Emerson
College on February 6. during the
competition Matra had to perform a
monologue and a sonnet before a panel of
three judges. He also was given fieen
minutes to prepare and deliver a dramatic
reading.
Chen ’13 Named To All-
State Orchestra
kenny Chen '13 was named to the
Massachusetts Music Educators
Association (MMEA) All-State Orchestra,
placing him among the top musicians in
the state. He was selected 15th chair in the
viola section. e road to All-States
involves auditioning and being selected for
the Eastern districts prior to taking part in
the All-State audition.
Balboni ’12 Earned Top
Speaker Recognition
Aidan Balboni ’12 was named Top
Speaker in the Parliamentary
Extemporaneous debate Competition
during the debate Tournament we hosted
on Sunday, February 13. Also earning
recognition was the Novice Team of dan
Fulham '14 and Will kenney '14, who
achieved a perfect record with three wins
and no losses. Eighteen schools
participated in the tournament.

Mike deschenes and his wife Mary-
Ellen welcomed their third child,
Alexandra Margaret, on February 6.
dan Burke and his wife kathryn
welcomed their first child, Jackson James,
on February 25.
Jack doherty ’62 was presented with the
“unsung Hero Award” by the Travis Roy
Foundation during the Foundation’s annual
Christmas Party in december.
Greg Lynch ’00 was named a finalist to
receive the Positive Coaching Alliance
double-Goal Coach Award in February.

Matt Hadge ’07, a sophomore goalie at
Wesleyan university, was named
New England Small College Athletic
Conference men’s ice hockey Player of the
Week for his performance in games from
January 17-23.
PT donato ’09, a sophomore at Babson
College, was named Eastern College
Athletic Conference Player of the Week for
his performance during games played on
January 21-22.
Peter Burke ’10, a freshman lacrosse
midfielder at Bucknell, earned Patriot
League Rookie of the Week, in part, for his
performance in a win over Albany the week
of March 28.
Connor Toomey ’07, a junior hockey
goalie for the Milwaukee School of
Engineering, was named to the NCAA
division III All-American West Second
Team West Squad. Toomey is also the
Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association
Player of the Year. n
