ARROWS IN MEMORIAM<br />

James McDonough ’05<br />

Mr. Mcdonough passed away on February<br />

26, 2011. While at St. Sebastian’s he cocaptained<br />

the golf team in his senior year<br />

and was a perennial All-ISL star. He also<br />

played hockey. An avid, very talented<br />

golfer, Mcdonough accepted an athletic<br />

scholarship to division I Rhode Island<br />

university aer being graduated from St.<br />

Sebastian’s. Two years later he transferred<br />

to Rollins College in Florida, where the<br />

warmer climate would enable him to<br />

concentrate more on perfecting his golf<br />

game. Mcdonough participated in many<br />

local and national junior golf tournaments<br />

over the past several years. He earned<br />

numerous awards. He planned on<br />

returning to Massachusetts upon his<br />

graduation from Rollins this spring to<br />

participate in the New England Amateur<br />

Golf Tournament. Mcdonough is<br />

survived by his parents, dr. James and<br />

Margaret Mcdonough.<br />

Thomas Swan ’60<br />

Mr. Swan passed away on March 5, 2011.<br />

While at St. Sebastian’s he played golf and<br />

baseball, was a member of the dramatic,<br />

debating, and Altar Societies, eArrow<br />

and Walrus staffs, Glee Club, and served as<br />

class secretary. Swan was a graduate of<br />

Harvard College and the university of<br />

Chicago Business School. He was the<br />

chairman of the family-owned Swan<br />

Group. A founding member of the St.<br />

Sebastian’s School Board of Trustees, he<br />

served as Board President from 1978-84.<br />

He was also a member of the School’s<br />

Board of Incorporators. Swan is survived<br />

by his wife, Carroll, and their son, Tom.<br />

His brother Joe is a member of the St.<br />

Sebastian’s Class of 1963. A tribute to Mr.<br />

Tom Swan appears on page 4.<br />

Thomas Salemy ’78<br />

Mr. Salemy passed away on April 3, 2011.<br />

While at St. Sebastian’s he played tennis<br />

and golf. He was also a member of the<br />

Walrus staff. Salemy earned a degree from<br />

Boston College before moving to Florida.<br />

He was a senior vice president of<br />

investments at Raymond James. Salemy is<br />

survived by his wife, Janet, and their<br />

children, Tommy, Justin, Sarah, and<br />

Alexandra.<br />
