SCOTT STEVENS — ASSISTANT COACH<br />

Entering second season as Devils’ full-time assistant coach and<br />

seventh season as a member of the team’s coaching staff…Spent 13<br />

of his 22 NHL seasons with New Jersey and captained team to<br />

three Stanley Cup Championships…Inducted into Hockey Hall of<br />

Fame November 12, 2007; announced his retirement as an active<br />

player on September 6, 2005…On February 3, 2006, became first<br />

player in franchise history to have his number (4) retired…Playing<br />

career spanned 22 seasons with Washington, St. Louis and New<br />

Jersey…One of just four players in history to appear in 600 games<br />

with two separate teams (R. Brind’Amour, Phi., Car.; A. MacInnis,<br />

Cgy., StL.; & M. Messier, Edm., NYR)…Passed former Capitals’<br />

teammate L. Murphy (1,615) for most appearances by a<br />

defenseman in NHL history on November 26, 2003; currently sits<br />

second all-time (C. Chelios, 1,651)…Games-played total is seventh<br />

all-time, trailing only G. Howe, Messier, R. Francis, M. Recchi,<br />

Chelios and D. Andreychuk…His 233 career playoff games by a<br />

defenseman are third (Chelios & N. Lidstrom), while his 20 years<br />

in the playoffs are tied for third all-time…In leading Devils to the<br />

2003 Stanley Cup, participated in his NHL record-tying 13th career game seven (P.<br />

Roy)…Appeared in 879 regular-season games in which his team has been victorious, the second<br />

most in NHL history (Chelios, 894)…Ranks fourth on the Devils’ all-time games-played list,<br />

fourth all-time in assists and tied for seventh in points…Posted a career-high 78 points and<br />

league-leading plus-53 mark in 1993-94, becoming the only defenseman ever to lead New Jersey<br />

in scoring…His 18 goals that season are the most by a defenseman in team history, while his 60<br />

assists still stand as the club’s single-season record…In 2000, became just the seventh<br />

defenseman to receive the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, leading the team to its second of<br />

three championships…Named to the NHL’s First All-Star Team following the 1987-88 and 1993-<br />

94 seasons, the league’s Second All-Star Team three times, while appearing in 13 mid-season All-<br />

Star Games, serving as captain in 2003…Was also named to the NHL All-Rookie Team in 1982-<br />

83…Acquired by New Jersey from St. Louis on September 3, 1991 as compensation for the Blues’<br />

signing of free agent forward B. Shanahan…Began his NHL career in 1982 with Washington and<br />

remained with team for eight seasons through 1989-90…Was Washington’s first choice and fifth<br />

overall selection in the 1982 Entry Draft…Played for the Memorial Cup-winning Kitchener<br />

Rangers in 1981-82, and was born April 1, 1964 in Kitchener, Ont…International experience<br />

included the 1998 Olympic Winter Games, 1996 World Cup, 1991 Canada Cup and four World<br />

Championship tournaments…Scott and his wife, Donna, have three children: daughters, Kaitlin<br />

MIKE FOLIGNO — ASSISTANT COACH<br />

Entering first season as a member of Devils’ coaching staff and 18th<br />

year as a coach…Named to current position July 19, <strong>2013</strong> after serving<br />

as an assistant coach with Chicago (AHL) last season…Previously<br />

spent time as an assistant coach with Anaheim, after being named to<br />

the position June 24, 2010…Head coach of the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves<br />

for seven seasons from 2003-04 through 2009-10 and, with 185 regularseason<br />

victories, is the winningest coach in franchise history…Led club<br />

to the 2006-07 Eastern Conference Championship and in 2009-10<br />

served the dual role of head coach and general manager…In 1998-99,<br />

was named head coach of Colorado’s AHL affiliate in Hershey…Led<br />

Bears to a 186-154-60 record in five seasons, including five straight<br />

appearances in the Calder Cup Playoffs…Served as an NHL assistant<br />

coach with Colorado (1997-98) and Toronto (1995-96)…Began<br />

professional coaching career with St. John’s (AHL) in 1995-96…A right<br />

wing, was selected third overall by Detroit in the 1979 NHL Entry<br />

Draft…Born January 29, 1959, he played 15 NHL seasons with Detroit<br />

(1979-81), Buffalo (1981-90), Toronto (1990-93) and Florida (1993-<br />

94)…Scored 36 goals and was runner-up for the Calder Memorial<br />

Trophy as the league’s top rookie in 1979-80 with the Red Wings…In 1,018 career NHL games, the<br />

Stanley Cup Playoff games, including the 1993 Western Conference Finals…Inducted into Buffalo<br />

Sabres Hall of Fame, 2002...Represented Team Canada at World Championships on three occasions,<br />

winning Bronze Medal in 1986...Mike resides in Sudbury and has four children: Cara, Lisa, Nick and<br />

Marcus…Nick is a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets and entering his seventh NHL season, while<br />

Marcus played in 47 games for the Buffalo Sabres in 2012-13…Nick (2004-07) and Marcus (2007-10)<br />

both played for Sudbury during their father’s seven years with the Wolves.<br />
