RICK KOWALSKY — HEAD COACH/ALBANY DEVILS
In fourth season as head coach of AHL’s Albany Devils; named to
current post August 10, 2010…Served four seasons as head coach of
ECHL’s Trenton franchise; received 2009 John Brophy Award as
league’s top coach…Returned to New Jersey’s capital city after
spending one year as an assistant to former Titans’ Coach Mike
Haviland with Norfolk (AHL); Admirals finished campaign with
impressive 43-29-4-4=94pt mark…A right wing, professional playing
career spanned 12 seasons and included six teams/two leagues in
North America…Also saw action in two games with BISL’s Cardiff
Devils in 2000-01…Captained Titans to 2005 Kelly Cup Championship
in final season as a player…Participated in 1995 and 2003 ECHL All-
Star Games; served North team as captain in 2003…Totaled 221 goals
and 329 assists for 550 points and 979 penalty minutes in 516 career
regular-season ECHL games with Hampton Roads, Trenton and
Roanoke…Served Express as player/assistant coach while compiling
career-high 83 points in 2001-02…Made pro debut with Cornwall
(AHL) in 1993-94…Buffalo’s tenth choice, 227th overall, in 1992 Entry
Draft; did not see any action in NHL…Helped lead Sault Ste. Marie to
back-to-back OHL Championships in 1991 and 1992; captained Greyhounds to 1993 Memorial Cup
Championship…Born March 20, 1972 in Simcoe, Ont…Rick and his wife, Debbie, have three children:
Dylan, Sydney and Ryan.

TOMMY ALBELIN — ASSISTANT COACH/ALBANY DEVILS
In seventh year as a member of organization’s coaching staff; named to
current position August 10, 2010…Spent three seasons as New Jersey
assistant coach following an 18-year NHL career…Former
defenseman’s career totals showed 44 goals and 211 assists for 255
points in 952 regular-season games with Quebec, New Jersey and
Calgary…Saw action in 539 regular-season games over 12 seasons with
the Devils and was a member of its 1995 and 2003 Stanley Cup
Championship teams…Also saw limited AHL action with Utica and
Albany during that time…Re-signed as a free agent July 5, 2001,
becoming fifth player in franchise history to re-join the team…Was
traded to Calgary February 26, 1996 after eight seasons with New
Jersey; played 339 games over five-plus seasons with Flames…First
stint with Devils began with December 12, 1988 trade from Nordiques’
organization…Made NHL debut October 8, 1987 after five seasons with
Djurgardens (Swe.)…Quebec’s seventh choice (8th round) and 152nd
overall selection in 1983 Entry Draft…Played for Sweden at 1998
Olympic Winter Games, 1996 World Cup, five World Championships,
two World Junior Championships and two Canada Cup
tournaments…Served country as assistant coach during 2010 Olympic Winter Games…Spent time as
color commentator for Swedish Television during 2001 Stanley Cup Finals…Spent 2006-07 season as a
member of New Jersey’s Alumni Association…49 years old; born May 21, 1964 in Stockholm,
Swe…Tommy and his wife, Maria, have two children: son, Adam (23) and daughter, Amanda (17).
