JACQUES LAPERRIERE — SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT COACH<br />

Entering 11th season with Devils’ organization and sixth year in<br />

current post; served club as assistant coach for four seasons after<br />

being named to position August 5, 2003…Coaching career has<br />

spanned more than two decades following an 11-season Hall of<br />

Fame playing career…Joined the Devils after serving the NY<br />

Islanders as an assistant coach the previous two seasons…Was an<br />

assistant to P. Burns for three-plus seasons with Boston, 1997-98<br />

through 2000-01, and with Montreal, 1988-89 through 1991-92…A<br />

member of the Canadiens’ coaching staff for 16 seasons beginning<br />

in 1981, winning the Stanley Cup in 1986 and 1993, and served as<br />

assistant general manager during the 1981-82 season…Coached<br />

the Montreal Red-White-Blue (QMJHL) during the 1975-76 season<br />

and Montreal Jr. (QMJHL) in 1976-77…Career totals show 40<br />

goals and 242 assists for 282 points and 674 penalty minutes in<br />

691 games with Montreal…As a player, was a member of six of the<br />

Canadiens’ Stanley Cup Championship teams: 1965, 1966, 1968,<br />

1969, 1971 and 1973…Named to the NHL’s First All-Star Team<br />

twice (1965, 1966), Second All-Star Team two times (1964, 1970),<br />

was winner of the James Norris Trophy as the league’s best defenseman in 1966, appeared in five<br />

All-Star Games (1964, 1965, 1967, 1968, 1970) and was recipient of the Calder Memorial Trophy<br />

as the NHL’s top rookie in 1964…Retired as an active player following a knee injury in<br />

1974…Born November 22, 1941 in Rouyn, Que…Jacques and his wife, Elaine, have three<br />

children: sons, Martin and Daniel, and daughter, Michele…Daniel played in 48 NHL games with<br />

St. Louis and Ottawa from 1992-93 through 1995-96.<br />

on February 10, 2011…Originally stepped down as head coach April<br />

26, 2010; re-joined club July 13, 2009 after serving Minnesota Wild<br />

as head coach for nine seasons…Served as associate coach for Gold<br />

Medal-winning Team Canada at 2010 Olympic Winter Games…His<br />

509 games coached, 276 wins, 61 post-season games and 35 playoff<br />

victories with New Jersey are tops in franchise history…As first<br />

coach in Wild history, compiled a 293-255-108=694pt (.529) mark in<br />

656 regular-season games behind the bench…Led team to 2003<br />

Western Conference Finals while capturing second career Jack<br />

Adams Award as league’s top coach…Named Minnesota’s coach June<br />

seasons…Born September 7, 1945, in Lasalle, Que.; Jacques and his wife, Mychele, have two sons,<br />

Patrice and Danyk, and one daughter, Magalie, as well as five grandchildren, Jeremy, Xavier,<br />
