And We have enjoined upon man goodness towards his parents: His mother bore him by bearing strain upon strain, and his weaning was in two years: “[Hence, O man,] be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the eventual coming.” (Qur’an, 31:14) Mother‘s milk is a matchless compound created by Allah to meet the baby‘s nutritional needs and protect it against possible infections. The balance of the nutriments in mother‘s milk is at ideal levels and the milk is in the ideal form for the baby‘s immature body. Research has shown that babies who are fed mother‘s milk are particularly protected against infections concerning the respiratory and digestive systems. That is because the antibodies in mother‘s milk provide a direct defence against infection. Since the mother‘s milk has been specially designed, it is the most easily digestible food for babies. Despite being nutritionally very rich, it is easily digested by the baby‘s sensitive digestive system. Research by Bristol University scientists revealed that among the long-term benefits of mother‘s milk are its positive effect on blood pressure, thanks to which the risk of heart attack is reduced. The research team concluded that the protective nature of mother‘s milk stems from its nutritional content. According to the results of the research, published in the medical journal Circulation, babies fed on mother‘s milk are less likely to develop heart disease. Mother‘s milk, ready at all times and at the ideal Although it is called milk, this miraculous compound actually consists mostly of water. This is a most important feature because in addition to food, babies also need liquid in the form of water. Full hygiene may not be established in water or foodstuffs other than mother‘s milk. Yet mother‘s milk—90% water no less - , meets the baby‘s water needs in the most hygienic manner. Scientific research shows that the cognitive development in breast-fed babies is greater than that in other babies. A comparative analysis of breast-fed babies and formula-fed babies by James W. Anderson - an expert from the University of Kentucky - established that the IQs of babies fed on mother‘s milk were 5 points higher than those of other babies. As a result of this study, it was determined that intelligence is benefited by mother‘s milk for up to 6 months and that children who are breast-fed for less than 8 weeks show no IQ benefit. Another miraculous feature of mother‘s milk is the fact that it is exceedingly beneficial for the baby to be fed with it for two years. This important information, only recently discovered by science, was revealed by Allah fourteen centuries ago in the verse: “Mothers should nurse their children for two full years—those who wish to complete the full term of nursing…‖ (Qur‘an, 2:233) In the same way that the mother does not decide to produce milk, the most ideal source of nourishment for the helpless baby in need of feeding in her body, neither does she decide on the various nutritional levels within it. It is Almighty Allah, Who knows the needs of and displays mercy to every living thing, Who creates mother‘s milk for the baby in the mother‘s body. 16 When your Hijab is see through... ... I'm only little for such a short time-please take the time to explain things to me about this wonderful world and do so willingly. 4. My feelings are tender; please be sensitive to my needs; don't nag me all day long. (You wouldn't want to be nagged for your inquisitiveness). Treat me as you would like to be treated. 5. I am a special gift; please treasure me as my Creator intended you to do, holding me accountable for my actions, giving me guidelines to live by and disciplining me in a loving manner. 6. I need your encouragement, not just your praise to grow. Please go easy on the criticism; you can criticize the things I do without criticizing me. 7. Please give me the freedom to make decisions concerning myself. Permit me to fail, so that I can learn from my own mistakes. Then someday I will be prepared to make the kind of decisions life will require of me. 8. Please don't do things over for me. Somehow that makes me feel that my efforts didn't quite measure to your expectations. I know it's hard, but please don't try to compare me to my brother or sister. 9. Please don't be afraid to leave for a weekend together. Kids need a vacation from parents, just as parents need vacations from kids. Besides it's a great way to show us kids that your marriage is very special. 10. Please set a good example for me to follow in all the ways of life. I enjoy watching the things you do and want to do them just like you. Ahadeeth About Women Rasulullah said: "When a woman offers her five times Salaah, keeps the fasts of <strong>Ramadhan</strong>, safeguards her honour, and obeys her husband; she can enter Jannah from whichever door she wishes." Rasulullah said: "Allah's mercy descends on a woman who wakes up for Tahajjud and awakens her husband as well." A person said to Rasulullah : "O Rasulullah ! A certain woman offers plenty of nafl Salaah, fasts abundantly and gives a lot in charity. However she causes much verbal harm to her neighbours." He replied: "She will go into Jahannam." The same person then said: "A certain woman does not offer many nafl Salaah, does not fast abundantly nor does she give a lot in charity; she merely gives pieces of panîr (a type of cheese) in charity. However she does not cause any harm to her neighbours." He replied: "She will go into Jannah." Salatul Awwabeen (Nafl prayers of Maghrib) After the Farz and Sunnat of Maghrib, performance of the minimum of 6 to a maximum of 20 rakaats is called Salatul Awwaabeen. Rasulullah mentioned, "Whoever performs 6 Rak'aats after Maghrib Salaat will earn the reward of 12 years of Nafl Ibaadat." (Tirmidhi) STORIES OF PIOUS WOMEN Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi (Rahmatullahi Alayh) The Mother of Haysur Haysur is the same boy who has been mentioned in the last issue. You have also read that the Quran has mentioned his parents as believers. The person whom Allah refers to as a believer cannot be any ordinary believer who does not have strong Imaan. It is obvious that such a person must be very strong in his Imaan. We can therefore deduce that Haysur's mother must have been very pious as well. Lesson: Look! Having strong Imaan is such a great thing that Allah praised such persons. O women! Strengthen your Imaan. This can be only done by following the orders of Allah and abstaining from sins.
