17. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
The Society's business processes and operations
rely on vast amount of information repository spread
across its various functional units. The Information
Technology and Communication facilities such as
Local and Wide Area Networks, INTRANET based
information exchanges; electronic mail, internet
access, web site etc. have been continuously
maintained and the security concerns are addressed
from time to time. New applications for intra
organizational information exchange have been
developed to reduce paper work.
18.CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
As a CSR initiative, the Society through GVT, has
taken up a project on Mangroves plantation on 100
hectares at village Kantiyajal (Distt.Bharuch) by
signing a MoU with Gujarat Ecology Commission
(GEC). The restoration project involves coastal
communities for the development and management
of mangroves, to give them livelihood and
employment opportunities. Society has taken CSR
initiatives to improve the livelihood of the rural
marginalized communities for their betterment in
the rainfed areas through GVT. Your society is also
contributing in improving socio-economic conditions
by enhancing seed replacement ratio at farmers' field
through hybrid seeds, Bt. cotton and encouraging use
of eco-friendly products like Bio-fertilisers and
Compost.
19. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Your society is playing a significant role in
community development and committed for
improving the quality of life of the farmers, better
Health, Education, Infrastructure support, Safe
drinking water, Income generation, Environment
protection, Family welfare, Institution building etc.
The Society has taken initiative for upliftment of rural
community through construction of storage-cumcommunity
centres since 1977 under Golden Jubilee
celebrations of India's Independence. So far, 136 such
centres have been constructed throughout the
country. These centres are meeting the dual needs of
timely stocking of agro-inputs / farm produce and
social gathering in rural areas. These centres have
proved helpful in reducing expenses of rural people on
account of tents etc. during social functions and on
storage during crop seasons. Farmers training, health
