De la visite rare ! Au Festival International de Jazz de Montréal,<br />
il y a deux ans, ils ont partagé la scène avec leur directeur<br />
musical, un certain Lee « Scratch » Perry… Sinon, il faut remonter<br />
à 1997 pour leur plus récent concert ! Heureusement, ils n’ont<br />
pas attendu un autre 11 ans avant de venir nous voir au Festival<br />
MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE ! Et en février, on se doute bien que<br />
la chaleur de la Jamaïque, les rythmes enflammés et le riche<br />
héritage de Bob Marley seront plus que bienvenus… En première<br />

A Two years ago, they shared a stage at the Festival<br />
International de Jazz de Montréal with their musical director,<br />
a certain Lee “Scratch” Perry… but aside from that, you’d have<br />
to go back to 1997 for their last Montreal concert! Thankfully,<br />
they haven’t waited another 11 years to bring their grooves to<br />
the MONTREAL HIGH LIGHTS Festival! And there’s no doubt that<br />
their Jamaican heat, fiery rhythms and the rich legacy of Bob<br />
Marley will be more than welcome in a Montreal February…<br />
Opening the show, Canadian reggae master Jah Cutta, who had<br />
us all dancing at the Festival this past summer!<br />

Avec Tiken Jah Fakoly, Alpha Blondy est certainement le chanteur<br />
reggae le plus célèbre de l’Afrique francophone. Inspiré par<br />
Bob Marley — auquel on le compare souvent d’ailleurs, autant<br />
pour son charisme que pour son engagement —, Burning Spear<br />
et les autres grands musiciens jamaïcains, le mystique, engagé<br />
et pacifiste chanteur est en pleine tournée à travers le monde, où<br />
il célèbre la paix et l’unité, et il s’arrête chez nous cet hiver, pour<br />
nous présenter en grande première son tout nouvel album. Un<br />
heureux mélange qui, on s’en souvient, avait brassé le Métropolis<br />
lors de son passage au Festival International de Jazz de Montréal<br />
en 2009.<br />

Fakoly, Alpha Blondy<br />
is undeniably the most<br />
celebrated reggae figure<br />
in French-speaking Africa. Inspired by—and often compared<br />
to—Bob Marley (as much for his charisma as his committed<br />
stance), Burning Spear and the other greats from the Jamaican<br />
tradition, Blondy is a mystic, a seeker, a pacifist, touring the<br />
world to spread the message of peace and unity. He’s here this<br />
winter to present the grand premiere of his new album—and<br />
anyone who caught him in 2009 will remember how he raised<br />
the roof at the Métropolis during the Festival International de<br />
Jazz de Montréal in 2009.<br />
