AIJA RINKINEN<br />
Aija Rinkinen’s main duties in the Finnish National Board of Education involve developing the quality of Finnish basic and upper secondary<br />
education including renewing the core curriculum, issuing guidelines and recommendations, guiding schools in their work and coordinating the<br />
work of the Lighthouse school innovation network in Finland.<br />
DR LARRY ROSENSTOCK<br />
Larry Rosenstock taught carpentry for eleven years after law school in urban high schools in Boston and Cambridge. He served as staff<br />
attorney for two years at the Harvard Center for Law and Education and was a lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education for five<br />
years. Larry was principal for six years of the Rindge School of Technical Arts and the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. He directed the<br />
federal New Urban High School Project, was president of the Price Charitable Fund, and is the CEO of High Tech High and HTH Learning in<br />
San Diego.<br />
DR TOM SHELTON<br />
Tom Shelton is Executive Director of the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents serving 173 public school districts. He was named<br />
Kentucky's Superintendent of the Year in 2011. Tom is also an educational leadership faculty member of Eastern Kentucky University teaching<br />
education law, finance, and superintendency courses.<br />
ARIHIA STIRLING<br />
Arihia Stirling has long experience as a teacher in Māori medium education and has been Principal of Te Kura Māori o Ngā Tapuwae for 18<br />
years. Arihia has worked with community and sector groups including: Expert Panel for the Prime Ministers Awards; EDUCANZ Transition<br />
Board; Member of the Minister’s Cross Sector Forum; Advisory Panel for Investing in Education Success; NZQA Senior Qualifications Advisory<br />
Group; NZQA Maori-Medium Senior Qualifications Advisory Group; Co-Chairperson of Ngā Kura-ā-Iwi o Aotearoa – confederation of schools in<br />
Tribal curriculum; Advisor to Victoria University of Wellington and University of Auckland. Arihia was the NZ Representative at the OECD<br />
Headquarters in France for the Learning and Change Networks.<br />
LYNN VAN DER ELST<br />
Lynn van der Elst is Co-Founder and former CEO of MIET Africa, a southern African NGO committed to improving the lives of children and<br />
youth through quality education. Her career in education spans 30 years. She is currently a Development Associate at MIET Africa and serves<br />
as GELP country coordinator for South Africa.<br />
