in India. It was launched by<br />

Prime Minister Narendra<br />

Modi on 25 September 2014.<br />

The main objective behind<br />

this initiative is to focus<br />

on the job opportunities<br />

and skill enhancement<br />

in India, that include 25<br />

sectors of the economy:<br />

automobiles, chemicals, IT,<br />

pharmaceuticals, textiles,<br />

ports, aviation, leather,<br />

tourism and hospitality,<br />

wellness, railways, design,<br />

manufacturing, renewable<br />

energy, mining, biotechnology,<br />

and electronics.<br />

Joint venture to boost<br />

‘Make in India’<br />

Campaign<br />

In a leg up for Modi government’s ‘Make in India’<br />

campaign, Boeing and Tata Advanced Systems<br />

on 9 Nov <strong>2015</strong> in Dubai, United Arab emirates<br />

has announced a joint venture (JV) that will<br />

manufacture aerostructures for aircraft and<br />

collaborate on integrated systems development<br />

opportunities in India.<br />

Boeing and Tata group<br />

companies have established<br />

a partnership in India to<br />

manufacture aerostructures<br />

for Boeing’s commercial and<br />

military aircraft. According to<br />

the Boeing’s press release,<br />

“The JV will initially create<br />

a manufacturing center<br />

of excellence to produce<br />

aerostructures for the AH-<br />

64 Apache helicopter and<br />

to compete for additional<br />

manufacturing work<br />

packages across Boeing<br />

platforms, both commercial<br />

and defense.”<br />
